Narrator: The delvers are travelling south, following the goblin's directions to the old goblin lair held by their mysterious enemy. As they struggly through a heavily hilled area, they crest a ridge just as a group of goblins reaches the top of a hill 30 yards south of them!
GM: Neither side is (very) surprised. The goblins are ducking under their shields and moving behind some trees.
GM: Oh! notes on the map.
GM: bright Green stuff is tall grass/low bushes. +1 movement cost, can't retreat into it, no effect on attacks.
GM: dark green stuff that doesn't block line of sight is tall bushes, -2 cover.
GM: dark gree stuff that does block line of sight are trees. Trees and tall bushes are +1 movement to enter, -4 to attack into, out of, or through, and -2 on defenses while you're in them.
Marik: So firing into them is like a 'free' deceptive -4/2. >.>
GM: The blue stuff in the center is a shallow looking creek. Entering it will subject you to random effects, usually ones that slow you down.
GM: Yes, I suppose so.
GM: Grey stuff is hills. No real effect on movement but it can block line of sight if you're on the other side of a crest or something.
GM: What are people up?
Thasos: Random Effects Creek?
Minnizig: White line on the hill is the crest?
GM: Yes.
Minnizig: One sec, pigeon crashing may vanish in a puff of logic if I have to reboot.
GM: Well, you can't see how deep/slimy/muddy/sharp rock filled the creek is until you step in it, right?
GM: Also, there's a bridge of rough logs.
Marik: I admit, I kind of liked the 'shoot them while they were busy diving for cover' option, since I can put two arrows into the air every second. But I see they already got cover.
Thasos: mark, can I lay out my strategy using gestures?
Minnizig: Something something element of surprise something.
GM: Uhm...
GM: A simple strategy, Thasos.
Marik: They weren't under cover when the map opened up. They are now. Someone moved, and I didn't get a chance to shoot them.
Marik: But element of surprise, go.
GM: Yeah, they didn't move far - Marik may have had 1 second of surprise, that's all.
Thasos: i'll whisper you, mark
Marik: I don't have CR, so it's cool
GM: So Thasos is frantically gesturing, Marik and Wolfgang are raising weapons, Ghazeb is looking mean but curious... what are Beltarne and Minnizig up to?
Beltarne: I'm thinking I'm going to rush up to the cover to the west of the bridge and wait for them to try to cross, then use it as a choke point. Unless anyone else has a better suggestion. Oh, and I'm at -5 to casting today.
Marik: I'm planning to stand out in the open and be WAY more accurate than they are.
Minnizig: What IS the mana like by the way?
Minnizig: Current flavor.
GM: Okay, Thasos is pointing at Marik, then at the foes, then sweeping his hand to encompass everyone else and making a wide circling motion to encompass the ridgeline to the west.
Marik: Because at this range, my volume of fire is likely to be much faster and more accurate than theirs.
GM: You guys think he wants Marik to shoot them while everyone else flanks.
GM: Mana is [3d6] => [4,6,2] = (12)
GM: Normal mana for Minnizig
Minnizig: Woo
Minnizig: Ok, headed for cover, me.
Minnizig: In a roughly westerly direction, if that seems to be the trend!
Goblins: "Kush drekin je! Who are you!"
Goblins: One of the goblins is shouting at you. The others are holding their weapons in a not particularly menacing way.
** Marik mumbles, "They want to talk. How quaint." I send an arrow at the verbose one. **
Marik: "Wolfgang, see if you can't give me some air support. while the others move around."
GM: Thasos can easily see as Marik brings his bow up, and can start acting immediately!

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [29] Ghazeb
(on deck: [28] Thasos)

** Minnizig found the F5 macro key **
Ghazeb: "What the?" Stares at Marik. "This one wanted to converse!"

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Thasos
(on deck: [28] Marik)

** Thasos leads the party to the down the crest and to the west. **

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Marik
(on deck: [26] Subchief)

Marik: "Converse on your time, chum, not mine."
Marik: Which one was doing the talking?
Thasos: ((did i really type "to the down"? this is going to be one of THOSE nights i think))
whispering to Minnizig, For what it's worth, the subchief said "Who the hell are you" in goblinese.
GM: Goblin Subchief #1 was talking.
GM: ... Marik can only see bits of him because he's hiding behind a tree.
Marik: Yeah, shooter 1 is catching an arrow instead.
Marik: Er, shooter 2
Marik: He's out in the clear.
Marik: -6 range, -2 crouching, +3 acc, anything else?
GM: Doh! Nope, that's it.
Marik: Bow: [3d6.skill(20,+3-6-2)] => [6,3,4] = 13 vs (15) or less Success! by 2
Goblins: Dodge and drop! [3d6.skill(8,3)] => [3,3,4] = 10 vs (11) or less Success! by 1
Marik: Hm.
Marik: Luck.
Goblins: Dodge and drop! [3d6.skill(8,3)] => [5,2,5] = 12 vs (11) or less Failure! by 1
Goblins: Dodge and drop! [3d6.skill(8,3)] => [1,1,5] = 7 vs (11) or less Success! by 4
Minnizig: Lucky shot! :D
Marik: Damage is [1d6+4] => [6,4] = (10) impaling.
Narrator: The goblin dives to the ground, trying to get under Marik's arrow. Sadly for him, that means it hits him in the back instead of the torso. He doesn't get back up.

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Subchief
(on deck: [25] Beltarne)

Marik: "Would anyone else care to try negotiation, or would you pack of smelly, thugs like to come for a fight?"
Marik: ((Marik is not so good with the taunting.))
Goblins: "Now now now! Kill the archer!" Moves, shouting orders.

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [25] Beltarne
(on deck: [24] Wolfgang)

Beltarne: Moving forward!
Beltarne: ##

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Wolfgang
(on deck: [24] Minnizig)

Wolfgang: moving up, maybe using tree for cover if it doesn't slow him

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Minnizig
(on deck: [24] Brutes)

Minnizig: "Memek! Subtle jerk arencha, bowboy?"
** Minnizig scoots west, heading for the cover of that tree there, where she drops her Quick Release Backpack as a free action. **
Wolfgang: and getting out a hatchet if I don't have one already

8) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Brutes
(on deck: [23] Minions)

Goblins: "Right! Bomdoj kapriblu, jemte!" The brutes also shout orders, pointing at Marik with their axes as they head in.

9) YOUR TURN NOW:: [23] Minions
(on deck: [22] Shocker Lizards)

Goblins: Goblins move forward, crouched behind their shields.

10) YOUR TURN NOW:: [22] Shocker Lizards
(on deck: [29] Ghazeb)

Shock Lizard: Lightning blasts out from the lizards, heading toward Marik with Wolfgang in the way! [3d6.skill(18,-7-4)] => [5,2,1] = 8 vs (7) or less Failure! by 1
[3d6.skill(18,-7-4)] => [5,1,3] = 9 vs (7) or less Failure! by 2

GM: Wolfgang valiantly blocks the attacks from hitting Marik!
GM: What to defend, Wolfgang?
Marik: Thanks, Wolfgang!
GM: Err... want?
Wolfgang: ???
Wolfgang: they don't have to get 9 or less?
GM: They missed by less than 4. You're providing 4 points of cover. Ergo, they hit you.
Marik: That's 'they hit cover', not 'they missed me and kept going', yeah.
Wolfgang: block twice I guess
Wolfgang: [3d6.skill(15, 0)] => [1,4,3] = 8 vs (15) or less Success! by 7
Wolfgang: [3d6.skill(15, -3)] => [5,1,3] = 9 vs (12) or less Success! by 3
GM: Lightning dances across your shield.

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [29] Ghazeb
(on deck: [28] Thasos)

Ghazeb: "Dreadful, they wanted to talk with these, yes?" Moves forward next to Beltarne.

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Thasos
(on deck: [28] Marik)

Marik: "Goblins are even less interesting to talk to than Thasos - and Thasos doesn't talk at ALL."
Minnizig: "He does do an amazing mime act, however."
** Thasos moves into the trees and spends a turn removing his pack. **

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Marik
(on deck: [26] Subchief)

Marik: "Besides, this tribe's using Shocker Lizards, and that just gets under my skin."
Marik: Fast-draw two arrows, fast-load two arrows, and put two arrows into Thug 2, on whom I have a clear shot.
Marik: Fast-Load: [3d6.skill(20,-3-2)] => [3,6,4] = 13 vs (15) or less Success! by 2
Marik: -3 fast-load, -7 range, +3 Acc, -2 crouching?
GM: Yep.
Marik: Bow (Twice): [3d6.skill(20,-7-3-2+3)] => [2,6,5] = 13 vs (11) or less Failure! by 2 [3d6.skill(20,-7-3-2+3)] => [1,1,5] = 7 vs (11) or less Success! by 4
Marik: Alas.
Goblins: Block! [3d6.skill(10,2)] => [4,5,2] = 11 vs (12) or less Success! by 1

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Subchief
(on deck: [25] Beltarne)

Marik: I was hoping to force 2 blocks. Is he getting a defense penalty for crouching, btw?
GM: No, on the clever technicality that there isn't one. (p 551). It's slowing him down, though.
Marik: Righto!
Marik: Can I crouch as a step?
Goblins: Keep moving, shouting wordless encouragement.
GM: No, you crouch as a free action at the start of your turn. Or uncrouch as same.
Marik: Remind me to crouch next turn.
GM: It gives a -2 to melee and bow attacks... which you ignore, HA.

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [25] Beltarne
(on deck: [24] Wolfgang)

Marik: :D
Beltarne: "If they so offend ye, shoot them before they shoot us!"
Beltarne: Crouch and finish moving to cover
Beltarne: ###
GM: Remember, +1/2 movement cost per hex while crouching.

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Wolfgang
(on deck: [24] Minnizig)

Wolfgang: take off and fly around a tree
Wolfgang: well, bush
Wolfgang: "Get those damm lizards Marik!"
GM: Fair enough. You'll need to make DX rolls if you're adjacent to an actual tree or your wings get entangled and you drop to the ground.

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Minnizig
(on deck: [24] Brutes)

** Minnizig scoot a step around the tree. **
Minnizig: "A bold horned man

Minnizig: draws strength from within silence

Minnizig: foreign and lethal."
Minnizig: (( Casting Might on Thasos for +3 ST (6FP) ))
Wolfgang: think I am far enough from it
GM: You're fine, Wolfgang, I'm just warning you.
GM: Go for it, Minnizig!
Minnizig: Might (Bardic) (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [6,1,6] = 13 vs (15) or less Success! by 2 for [6] => 6 FP
Minnizig: Not sure what penalty is on there!
GM: -4, I think, so fail.
Minnizig: Luck!
** Thasos suddenly feels strong enough to take on the whole other side. **
Minnizig: Might (Bardic) (15) [3d6.skill(15,-4)] => [5,1,2] = 8 vs (11) or less Success! by 3 for [6] => 6 FP
Minnizig: Might (Bardic) (15) [3d6.skill(15,-4)] => [1,3,5] = 9 vs (11) or less Success! by 2 for [6] => 6 FP
Minnizig: Counted the penalty in there, so YAY workededed!
GM: Good enough.
Narrator: Minnizig's haiku creates an odd glow around Thasos, and the massive minotaur seems even stronger.

8) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Brutes
(on deck: [23] Minions)

Goblins: Run forward, crouching.

9) YOUR TURN NOW:: [23] Minions
(on deck: [22] Shocker Lizards)

Thasos: Overconfidence? [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [3,3,1] = 7 vs (10) or less Success! by 3
Goblins: Run forward, crouching.
Goblins: One of them steps around a tree, aiming at Marik.
** Thasos doesn't decide to run across the stream right now and kick all their asses. **

10) YOUR TURN NOW:: [22] Shocker Lizards
(on deck: [29] Ghazeb)

Shock Lizard: step forward, shooting at Marik. [3d6.skill(18,-7)] => [5,1,3] = 9 vs (11) or less Success! by 2
[3d6.skill(18,-7)] => [6,6,6] = 18 vs (11) or less Critical Failure! by 7 [B556]

Minnizig: Lawl.
Shock Lizard: Grounding! can't zap for [1d6] => [1] = (1) seconds!
Narrator: Lighting zaps at Marik, but the static charge around one of the lizards subsides and it coughs a bit.
GM: Marik is just taking the hit?
Marik: Feverish Dodge: [3d6.skill(10,+2)] => [3,1,6] = 10 vs (12) or less Success! by 2
Marik: Were we down any FP to start this? We'd been marching.
GM: Yes, you're down 1 hours' fatigue.
GM: So encumbrance +1 on your MARCH load.
Marik: Check.
Minnizig: [15/6] => 2
Minnizig: Not at 1/3 FP yay

(on deck: [28] Thasos)

Ghazeb: Keep hurrrying after Beltarne, preparing to dramatically jump the creek!

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Thasos
(on deck: [28] Marik)

Thasos: can i continue moving or do i have to spend this turning dropping my backpack?
GM: You're probably not encumbered anymore if you just want to shrug it back on and move at full speed.
Thasos: no, i'm setting it down in the trees
GM: that will take 2 more rounds, then.
Thasos: 2??!
Thasos: I didn't expect that long, okay, i'm just going to keep moving and keep it on
GM: 3 rounds to remove a non-quick release backpack, I'm afraid.
** Thasos thinks that being stronger makes up for the weight of his pack, and keeps moving. **

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Marik
(on deck: [26] Subchief)

Marik: I can't fast-draw, fast-load, and aim.
Marik: So I will drop into a crouch, fast-draw an arrow, fast-load it, and move.

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Thasos
(on deck: [28] Marik)

Thasos: if i climb up here, will i be out of line of sight?
Thasos: You'd be visible while climbing... but you could make a Power Blow roll to get a super-jump going and leap to the top. It's not that tall a cliff.
GM: You'd be visible while climbing... but you could make a Power Blow roll to get a super-jump going and leap to the top. It's not that tall a cliff.
Thasos: ooh, i get to show off? you bet!

GM: Um... you can't jump 18 yards in 1 second, though.
** Thasos summons his chi. **
GM: Well... 16 you can.
GM: Hmmm.
Thasos: so i'll do the leap the next turn, right?
GM: okay, you jump 16 yards horizontally, ending up nearly at the base of the cliff. Or you can run forward 7 yards and then jump next turn, your choice.

GM: Uhm... no and stuff.
Wolfgang: ??
GM: runaround attack is -2, no shield bonus, retreat is only +1 on a retreat.
Minnizig: Runaround counts as a flank?
Minnizig: Success by 8 and 10 though I think still works.
GM: yeah, looks like.
GM: well, a valiant effort.
Wolfgang: so -5 on what I had
Marik: Wolfgang is terrifying.
Wolfgang: what? he is nice as long as you're not a gobbo!

[3d6.skill(9)] => [4,3,2] = 9 vs (9) or less Success! by 0

Marik: Notably, at least one of those was at an additional penalty for being prone, I think.
GM: Non-bow ranged attacks don't take penalties for posture.
GM: again, p 551
Marik: Right.
Marik: Stupid lizards.
GM: Beltarne - blocking, dodging, or being zapped?
Beltarne: Beltarne Blocks Beautifically! (And feverishly) [3d6.skill(12,+2)] => [3,4,1] = 8 vs (14) or less Success! by 6

GM: Doh!
Marik: -6 range, -3 fast-load, +3 acc, penalty for prone?
GM: -3 for prone.
Marik: I will use two arrows.
Marik: Fast-load: [3d6.skill(20,-3-2)] => [1,4,2] = 7 vs (15) or less Success! by 8
Marik: Bow (twice): [3d6.skill(20,-3-3-6+3)] => [3,5,3] = 11 vs (11) or less Success! by 0 [3d6.skill(20,-3-3-6+3)] => [1,5,2] = 8 vs (11) or less Success! by 3
Shock Lizard: Dodge! [3d6.skill(10,-3-1)] => [4,6,5] = 15 vs (6) or less Failure! by 9
[3d6.skill(10,-3-1)] => [1,6,5] = 12 vs (6) or less Failure! by 6

Shock Lizard: Bad trade-off.
Marik: Damage is [1d6+4] => [3,4] = (7) and [1d6+4] => [1,4] = (5) impaling.
Beltarne: ((Splode!))
Shock Lizard: well, it could have survived the second hit....
Marik: "That's one for you, Beltarne!"
Marik: ###
Narrator: Marik nails the lizard with twin arrows.

GM: Damage?
Wolfgang: Axe [2d6+8] => [2,2,8] = (12) cut
Wolfgang: Axe [2d6+8] => [6,4,8] = (18) cut
GM: [(12+18-4)*1.5] => 39.0
Goblins: Dies? [3d6.skill(11,-2)] => [6,5,1] = 12 vs (9) or less Failure! by 3
Wolfgang: dies horribly?
Wolfgang: and a step at the end
Narrator: Wolfgang slams his axe into the goblin's face, then twists it hard, ripping the skull apart. THe goblin dies in a spray of blood.

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Minnizig
(on deck: [24] Brutes)

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Brutes

GM: The goblin is hurting, but still up.

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Thasos

** Thasos continues south, but stops at the creeks edge. He looks at the murky water and grimaces. **
Thasos: i'm not ending my move in that creek :P

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Marik
(on deck: [25] Beltarne)

Marik: I can't feint to aid someone else's attack, can I.
Wolfgang: not ranged I son't think
Wolfgang: melee you can apply it to one of their defneses against the other person
Marik: Fast-draw, fast-load, rapid strike (FP: Flurry) a feint and shot at Brute 2.
GM: -2 for Beltarne in the way.
Marik: Does that apply to the feint as well?
GM: Yes, all penalties on the shot apply to the feint.
Marik: Doesn't work that way for melee, but okay!
GM: Look it up, not my ruling.
Marik: I assume I don't get acc on the feint?
Marik: Screw feinting, I shoot him.
Marik: Not worth the FP.
GM: all modifiers is all modifiers.
Marik: -5 range, +3 acc, -2 cover, anything else?
Marik: -3 fastload.
GM: Nope.
Marik: Bow: [3d6.skill(20,+3-2-5-3)] => [5,5,4] = 14 vs (13) or less Failure! by 1
Marik: Luck.
Marik: Bow: [3d6.skill(20,+3-2-5-3)] => [2,5,4] = 11 vs (13) or less Success! by 2

Goblins: Block! [3d6.skill(11,2)] => [5,4,5] = 14 vs (13) or less Failure! by 1
Marik: Damage is [1d6+4] => [4,4] = (8) impaling.
Goblins: "Ow!"

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [25] Beltarne
(on deck: [24] Wolfgang)

Beltarne: Mighty Blow shield slam while sprinting on Brute 2! No mods?
GM: Uhm... no, I guess not.
Beltarne: [3d6.skill(14,0)] => [4,2,6] = 12 vs (14) or less Success! by 2
Goblins: Take it against his shield! [3d6.skill(11,2-5+4)] => [1,2,6] = 9 vs (12) or less Success! by 3 (is still hit, but damage is to shield. knockdown possible as normal)
Beltarne: My damage is 2d+4?
GM: Beltarne does [2d6+4] => [4,4,4] = (12) knockback versus [3d6+1] => [5,6,1,1] = (13) knockback!
Marik: (What's that +4 for? O.o)
GM: Roll DX or fall down, you're rebounding 1 hex
GM: strength...
Beltarne: ((Mighty blow + DB))
Marik: No, I mean on the defense roll.
Beltarne: DX (12) [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [6,4,6] = 16 vs (12) or less Failure! by 4
Beltarne: ((Boo))
GM: GM's ruling: he's excepting the hit, just trying to get his shield in the way so it's a solid shield-to-shield hit.
Wolfgang: so a block?
Marik: I'd love to do that with weapon attacks, man.
Marik: "Please, hit my shield."
Marik: That's the very definition of a block.
GM: Not quite - it doesn't stop the shield rush, just lets him act as though he had initiated it.
GM: So the damage effect goes to the shield, but he's still subject to knockdown, etc.
Marik: Sounds deeply shenanigans-ish to me.
Marik: Since the damage would go to the shield anyway, if we were using shield damage rules, which (IIRC) we aren't.
Marik: But your call.
GM: Uhm... no, he could have failed the block and taken the hit on his chest.
GM: or succeeded by enough to deflect the attack without affecting the shield.
Marik: I'm saying, on a normal successful block, your goal is for the attack to hit your shield.
Marik: So he's getting +4 to the roll for doing nothing more than what he'd normally get.
GM: Bonus might be less... I'll think about it.
Marik: And +4 is HUGE.
GM: No, he DOESN'T BLOCK. A normal block cancels the attack.
Minnizig: He's rolling "block" to interpose the shield and accept the charge, not to stop the charge.
GM: If you block a shield rush, you suffer no effect. He was still subject to knockdown, just rolled more damage and avoided it and it was a near thing.
Marik: Acrobatics is +2 with a skill roll and consequences for failure. Feverish is +2 with an FP cost.
GM: Great, you totally convinced me. Bonus is +1 only, he still interposes and knocks Beltarne down.
Marik: The trick seems wrong to me in the first place and the bonus seems WAY out of whack.
Minnizig: Acrobatics also isn't done at 1/2 skill
Marik: Bonus is +1 only, he fails his block entirely and takes damage?
GM: He succeeded by 3, reduce the bonus by 3 he still succeeds.
GM: Even if he'd failed the interpose entirely, he still knocks down Beltarne because he did more damage!
Marik: All good, then.

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Wolfgang
(on deck: [24] Minnizig)

Wolfgang: step and Signature attack, varient B in case he was paying attention before
GM: Err, what's that?
Wolfgang: just changing up the feint so he doesn't get an + on resisting it like you gave someone last time
GM: uhm... okay. go for it.
Wolfgang: rapid strike feint and attack [3d6.skill(20,-3+1)] => [2,4,6] = 12 vs (18) or less Success! by 6 atk DA -4/-2 [3d6.skill(20,-3-4+1+2)] => [2,3,5] = 10 vs (16) or less Success! by 6
Goblins: Resist feint [3d6.skill(16)] => [4,3,2] = 9 vs (16) or less Success! by 7

GM: He's tough, but not that tough. He drops.

Marik: "Wolfgang! Beltarne's down! Get over there and take out that lizard!"

Goblins: Shouts some words in goblin to the lizard!
Beltarne: Feverish Block, -2 for kneeling, +2 for feverish....?
GM: yep, -1 for DA
Beltarne: [3d6.skill(14,+2-2-1)] => [6,5,2] = 13 vs (13) or less Success! by 0

Wolfgang: I don't go there, out of move
GM: What? Your move is 10, you moved 8?
Wolfgang: +3?
Wolfgang: turns
Wolfgang: lucky bastard
Wolfgang: no MP left
GM: Turns while moving don't take MP unless they're sharper than 60 - you can turn 60 degrees as you enter a hex for free.
GM: ... that's right, or am I crazy?
GM: but I guess you could manage so you just hit his, but you still need to be in the hex at the end.
GM: because slams don't have reach.
GM: okay.
Marik: It's more 'you *must* turn to face any hex you move into, and if it's not a front hex it costs 2 (or 3) MP to do so.'
Beltarne: ((That's right, unless it's diff for ariel))
GM: alright.

GM: THey die.
Wolfgang: the others might be able to save one while he's distracted doing this
GM: Wow, let's check...
Beltarne: ((Things I have learned today))
Ghazeb: Resist bloodlust? [3d6.skill(15,-3)] => [4,1,1] = 6 vs (12) or less Success! by 6 'cause he doesn't care that much to resist.
Beltarne: ((1. I need a macro for block (done while bleeding quietly)))
Ghazeb: "If Marik wants to keep one alive, Ghazeb is willing if Ghazeb may kill the others."
Beltarne: ((2. I need better armor))
Marik: "I don't have anything I want to learn from these ones."
** Thasos gives Ghazeb a dirty look like it was all his fault that he didn't take part in the combat. **
Ghazeb: "Then Ghazeb will finish them off."
Marik: ((Minnizig might overrule Marik.))
Beltarne: ((3. Only use shield slam against things that don't have "brute" in their name))
GM: So what are people doing?
Beltarne: bleeding
GM: and the rest?
Wolfgang: 1. killing runners 2. bringing the bodies back 3. getting my hatchet
Thasos: giving ghazeb dirty looks
Minnizig: Fixing beltarne!
Beltarne: ((Yay!))
Minnizig: Minnizig is actually pretty good with killing off the goblins at this point. Slightly discusted at the situation, but goblins are goblins.
Marik: Ignoring goings-on of the party while he refills his quivers out of his backpack and then settles against a tree for a nap. "Wake me when we're ready to leave."
Ghazeb: Whistles tunelessly and cheerfully as he slits throats.
Minnizig: Mnor healing for 4 HP, because it's what I got at the moment, um.
Wolfgang: so, does Minnizig heal or kill our dwarf?
Minnizig: Minor Healing (Bardic) (15) [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [6,6,1] = 13 vs (15) or less Success! by 2 for [4] => 4 FP
GM: Looks like she stabilizes him, but he's still disabled.
Beltarne: I only become conscious when I hit 0?
GM: Or after an hour.
Minnizig: After that, I rest up, recover some FP, and then do it again.
Minnizig: At a -3 penalty.
GM: and that's the 2nd minor healing on Beltarne in 24 hours, so the third is at -6.
Minnizig: But this time I'll remember to PROJECT MY VOICE and do a little jig.
Ghazeb: First aid on Beltarne [3d6.skill(10,1)] => [5,4,5] = 14 vs (11) or less Failure! by 3
Ghazeb: Ghazeb bandages Beltarne for 1.
Minnizig: gorp. Forgot that last time, but forgot the shouting and jigging too, so penalties even out.
** Wolfgang weeps for the dwarf **
Minnizig: After I rest up, I'll be taking 10x the time to cast ceremonially, making elaborate gestures, and shouting, for a total of +5
Wolfgang: after gathing his weapons "He gonna wake up now?"
** Beltarne snores **
Minnizig: "I'm no godman, but he's going to live and eventually wake up, yes. Now hush, I need to convice the Great Plotline that he's needed for the denoument."
Minnizig: Minor Healing (Bardic) (15) [3d6.skill(15,-6+2+2+1)] => [3,1,4] = 8 vs (14) or less Success! by 6 for [4] => 4 FP
Wolfgang: "He hates to miss the looting part
Ghazeb: looks uncertain, twitching his whiskers and swiveling his ears slightly.
** Beltarne wakes up, gazing around blearily **
Beltarne: "Did they have anything valuable?"
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb found potions on one of the goblins' bodies. Maybe these should give them to Beltarne?"
** Beltarne coughs **
** Wolfgang begins dumping loot next to Beltarne **
Minnizig: "See? He's fine. Badly bruised."
Minnizig: "Sort of cut up around the edges."
Minnizig: "But apply some gold (And perhaps some potions, let me look at those) to the problem and I'm sure he'll be right as rain."
GM: You found 15 coppers and 10 silver on the goblins, Wolfgang.
Ghazeb: "Of course!" He gives you two potions that are clearly minor healing potions.
** Beltarne stands up slowly, spits some bloody phlegm on the ground, and eyes the coins. **
Beltarne: "it
Beltarne: "It'll have to do"
Minnizig: "Excellent finds! I think these might help your attitude towards the gleanings."
Wolfgang: I count decent weapons and armor plus food as loot :)
** Minnizig hands them over to Beltarne. **
Minnizig: "And if I hear you planning on pawning them instead of drinking them, I'll take my healing back."
Beltarne: I'm gonna try to do a full on Major Heal, Mark. +5 for lots of time, -5 for Low Mana?
Beltarne: or sanctity, rather
Wolfgang: the scale armor any good?
Minnizig: On yourself, also a penalty for HP damage I believe. :(
GM: 4 suits of DR2 leather, 2 suits DR3 leather, 1 suit of scale, 6 cheap axes, 1 normal axe, 2 crossbows, 2 medium bucklers, 5 medium shields, 14 meals (less the 1 that Ghazeb is gnawing)
GM: And yes, Beltarne is at -12 for his own damage, -5 for low sanctity.
Beltarne: Oh, is there? Potions are probably a good idea then
Wolfgang: "Ghazeb, let Beltarne check that first!!!"
Ghazeb: "It is find. Ghazeb is hungry and this meat smells fresh-like."
** Beltarne makes a face and drinks one of the healing potions **
GM: Heals [1d6+3] => [3,3] = (6) damage.
GM: now what?
Thasos: how many days have we been out now?
GM: today is day 5. an hour or so after noon.
** Beltarne puts the second in his belt pouch, and gathers up the loot and 5 meals **
Thasos: and how many days would it take to get back to the city?
GM: Marik estimates 2-3.
** Minnizig glares at Beltarne. **
** Wolfgang starts bundling the weapons and armor up, unless someone wants the scale, so they can bury it in a bit **
** Thasos confers with Beltarne quietly, showing him his supply of ritual components. **
Beltarne: "For emergencies!"
GM: okay, and then? are you abandoning the quest?
Wolfgang: ????
Minnizig: Is that a dirty great big hint?
GM: There are no hints. There is just the GM, not seeing typing indicators, and wondering what happens next.
Marik: I'm waiting to see what the result is of Thasos showing off his sacred rice and meditation balls.
Minnizig: And then telling us to go abandon the quest, which seems sort of out of the blue.
Thasos: yeah, that's pretty random
Marik: I think the question is, how many days' worth of ritual components did our ritual-limited friends bring along?
Beltarne: "Thasos is low on ritual supplies. He will not be able to perform at peak efficiency without them"
Wolfgang: "How low is low?"
GM: Technically, only Thaos has a ritual limitation. Beltarne just does it because he thinks he should, it doesn't affect his powers.
GM: (I think)
Wolfgang: "can he get some from the forest?"
Beltarne: Correct as far as I know
Beltarne: Unless I'm the asshole that forgot to bring food AND god-juice
Thasos: hmmm... i dunno, mark, can ritual components be gathered?
GM: I assumed Beltarne's Pact limitation is his Honesty.
GM: Thasos - not likely. You could improvise from wizardly or divine ritual components if you found any.
GM: So, what are people doing?
** Marik wakes with a snort. "So how many days has the big man got left in him?" **
** Thasos holds up a meaty hand, showing five fingers. **
Beltarne: ((Joel?))
** Wolfgang waiting for this info as well **
Beltarne: Well, we
Marik: "Right, let's rest up here - that fight took a lot out of me - and then get back on the road."
Beltarne: "Sounds good to me"
Wolfgang: "We can get to Mr. big in that time no problem"
Marik: "We really should find the one in charge of all this and then deal with him before we go back to Polisberg."
Minnizig: "What are the odds he might have something useful for strong-but-silent's rites?"
Wolfgang: "The road back should be a lot safer without him his minions attacking us the whole way, so he won't need to be in peak shape"
Beltarne: To Minnizig "Possible, but not certain"
** Thasos looks dubious about the outlook, but of course says nothing. **
Narrator: The delvers continue southwest, staying in the shadow of the mountains.
Narrator: The path continues along the hills. Just before stopping to rest for the night, they came across an area without grass - something has dissolved most of the grass in a long path, about 4-5 yards way in various trails.
Marik: ...
Marik: Is there somewhere I can get some altitude to look down on this?
Marik: Wolfgang! Wolfgang can get some altitude and look down on this.
GM: Look down on what? the destroyed grass or the local terrain?
Wolfgang: "Yah, no problem!"
Marik: The destroyed grass.
Marik: I'm worried it makes a pattern.
Wolfgang: "Want a lift?"
Marik: "No, just get a look and tell me if it looks... I dunno. Runic."
whispering to Marik, Looks like erupting slime trails.
Minnizig: "Wouldn't it be more like... some horrible monster thing that destroys all lesser life near it as it goes wandering around?"
Marik: "The idea that someone's burning arcane sigils INTO THE LANDSCAPE really troubles me."
Minnizig: "Or an acid snail?"
Marik: "It could also be an Erupting Slime trail."
** Wolfgang goes up and looks to see if it looks like strange writing **
Minnizig: "That's like acid snails, but even groser.
Minnizig: "
Ghazeb: "Ghazeb is worried that wizards are making sigils, too"
whispering to Wolfgang, Looks like a trail, no symbol you recognize
Marik: "They're actually pretty good if you boil them slowly over a birchbark fire."
Ghazeb: "Ewww."
** Wolfgang comes back **
Wolfgang: "looks like a trail to me, not writing"
Beltarne: "Isn't birch bark really papery? How the heck do you get enough to boil water?"
Marik: "Slimes boil at a lower temperature? I don't know, I've never actually cooked one."
GM: The delvers move well past the trail and make camp.
** Beltarne gags **
GM: Marik, roll camouflage.
Marik: And foraging? :D
GM: Sure!
Marik: Foraging - Survival (Military Bureaucracy): [3d6.skill(15,0)] => [3,3,6] = 12 vs (15) or less Success! by 3
Wolfgang: we buried the heavy loot at some point too I take it
GM: Sure!
Marik: Camouflage: [3d6.skill(17,0)] => [5,6,5] = 16 vs (17) or less Success! by 1
Beltarne: Yead, Marik did before we left
Marik: Apparently red tape isn't so good at hiding a campsite.
GM: Thasos, make two Perception rolls.
Thasos: Vision (11) [3d6.skill(11,0)] => [3,4,4] = 11 vs (11) or less Success! by 0
Thasos: Vision (11) [3d6.skill(11,0)] => [2,1,2] = 5 vs (11) or less Success! by 6
Thasos: sorry, was reading the other window :P
Narrator: The night is cool and windy, with heavy cloud cover flowing across the sky away from the Mage Storm.
whispering to Thasos, You see a large, manlike shape moving around outside of camp, and hear wings overhead.
GM: Thasos has a whisper
** Thasos stares off into the distance. **
** Thasos looks up in the sky, looking around. **
GM: You're on watch...
GM: Are you doing anything else?
Thasos: yeah...
** Thasos wakes Marik. **
** Marik wakes up. "What?" **
Thasos: btw who was the monkey that put the guy that doesn't talk on watch? :D
** Thasos points off into the distance. He also points up in the air and makes flapping motions with his hands. **
Narrator: As Marik snaps away, going for his bow, the ground in the center of the campsite erupts. A manlike form of rock rises, green sigils glowing faintly on his chest.
Marik: Oh. See.
Earth Golem: "Do not be alarmed. My Master would have words with you. Will you consent to speak with him?"
