Cheap, Fine, and Very Fine are all mutually exclusive, as are all grades of Dwarven Proof. All other qualities can be combined. A Dwarven Proof grade can be combined with one of Cheap, Fine, or Very Fine.
Weak Rear can not be applied to helmets.

All materials are mutually exclusive with each other.
Any light flexible armor made with a material with a x0.6 or less weight modifier can be worn under other armors with no DX penalty for layering (effectively it counts as 0 layers).
Any Massive or Jousting armor made with a material with a x0.6 or less weight modifier counts as a single layer and loses the inherent -1 DX penalty.
Armor Scaling

Use the rules on LTC2 p21. Small individuals are more encumbered by thinner armor than larger individuals.

Example: A SM-6 in Light Mail has -1 DX on all actions because the armor is effectively very thick for him. If he wore mithril Medium Mail, he wouldn't have DX penalty for layering.
Example: A SM+2 Ogre Barbarian can wearing Jousting Plate over Padded Cloth with no layering penalty. If she upgraded the Padded Cloth to Elder Dragonskin Medium Leather, she still wouldn't have a DX penalty for layering.
