(2007) Narrator: The delvers had camped the night in the ruins below the Caverns of Madness.
(2007) Narrator: The leprechaun thief Loegaire had lived up to his role, departing in a hurry with 3 precious healing potions.
(2023) Thog: *whistles*
(2007) Narrator: And the ogre archer Thog seemed to have attached himself to the group.
(2020) Singeon: Bastard. I will avenge us on him.
(2023) Thog: Me too!
(2023) Thog: Who dat?
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): We'll point im out if we see im, laddie
(2020) Singeon: Don't hold me back if we do.
(2007) Narrator: In the morning, they redistributed their gear, bade farewall to their hirelings, and hiked to the Caverns of Madness.
(2021) Arganyev: OK
(2007) Narrator: The cavern was about 1 mile away from their campsite.
(2020) Singeon: May I get some healing potions please?
(2007) Narrator: It took a little more than 30 minutes to get there.
(2007) GM: Singeon has a point. How are you distributing the gear?
(2021) Arganyev: campfire sound)
(2021) Arganyev: speakers on?)
(2023) Thog: DEMONS!
(2023) Thog: FIRE DEMONS!
(2020) Singeon: I attack the campfire! LOL
(2021) Arganyev: fire of campfire
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): we have 5 minor and 2 major
(2020) Singeon: I was going to buy some, and I intend to take some hits.
(2023) Thog: WIND DEMONS!
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): say, i minor to everyone but me, 1 major to arganyev and singeon
(2021) Arganyev: did you hear the wind?)
whispering to Sithis, You know you're approaching the Caverns from your map. There's an access shaft high above, in the canyon walls.
(2020) Singeon: OK.
(2007) GM: Sithis, check your whisper.
(2019) Lenia: I have my own stock of potions; Arganyev or Singeon will likely be on the front lines, and need them more.
** (2020) Singeon grabs a potion of major healing **
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): what wind?
(2007) Narrator: The Cavern was only approachable through a long, winding cavern with high walls.
(2019) Lenia: ((I'm hearing wind. Could we make it stop?))
(2021) Arganyev: Beltarne, I ready some sounds for you hearing them in OpenRPG)
(2021) Arganyev: Lenia, ... I don't know how stop it, wait a moment)
(2020) Singeon: tools===>sound toolbar
(2020) Singeon: in the menu
(2020) Singeon: It has a stop button.
(2024) Sithis: Well, I know there are an access to the cavern
(2021) Arganyev: ah OK singeon, thanks
(2021) Arganyev: so we are in front of the entrance?
(2020) Singeon: Let's go. Time is a wastin!
(2019) Lenia: ((Cavern or chasm with high walls?))
whispering to Sithis, You saw a green face ducking down from the access shaft. It's maybe 50meters up and only 1/2 meter wide.
** (2020) Singeon readies his sabers **
(2007) Narrator: You're in a chasm right now, near the entrance to the old mine. Sithis is saying there's an air shaft above you - you can just barely make it out.
(2020) Singeon: How far up?
(2007) Narrator: 50 yards.
(2007) Narrator: There's another 2 mine entrances further down the cavern.
(2023) Thog: Climbing now?
(2020) Singeon: Can anyone climb that?
(2007) GM: The air shaft is 1/2 yard wide.
(2007) GM: it's an air shaft, not an entrance.
(2021) Arganyev: so the shaft is like an upward tunnel?
(2007) GM: Yes.
(2007) GM: Sithis, another whisper.
(2020) Singeon: And it give us surprise on those guarding the entrances.
(2024) Sithis: A moment, there is a face of one creature
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): where?
(2023) Thog: *I look
(2024) Sithis: is green and horrible
(2007) Narrator: Though the delvers looked, they couldn't see anything in the shaft - most of them could barely see it at all.
(2024) Sithis: a green face ducking down from the access shaft. It's maybe 50meters up and only 1/2 meter wide
** (2020) Singeon curses his human eyes **
(2021) Arganyev: I ready my sword and shield, now
(2024) Sithis: but I yes
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): we don't have anyone who can fit in that, but they know we're coming
(2020) Singeon: Let them know. They will fall at our feet.
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): shall we take one of the other two lower entrances?
(2007) GM: Everyone readying gear? melee weapons except for Thog, I assume.
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): yup
(2020) Singeon: I already readied
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): casting flaming weapon
(2023) Thog: Me use shooting stick!
(2024) Sithis: There's an access shaft high above, in the canyon walls
** (2021) Arganyev readies sword and shield **
(2019) Lenia: Staff at the ready, but you know, Thog? He makes *great* cover.
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): and armor
(2007) GM: Beltarne, roll it.
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): Flaming Weapon (Holy) (16) [3d6.skill(16,0)] => 3d6.skill(16,0) Includes: +4 from 'Power Investiture (Holy)'
(2023) Thog: Yeah! Sometimes me duck behind me!
(2021) Arganyev: so we already have a TORCH, right?
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): [3d6] => [1,5,3] = (9)
(2020) Singeon: How close to the entrance are we. its above, right?
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): Armor (Holy) (16) [3d6.skill(16,-1)] => 3d6.skill(16,-1) Includes: +4 from 'Power Investiture (Holy)'
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): [3d6] => [1,2,1] = (4)
(2019) Lenia: My Staff has a Continual Light spell on it. I assume that counts.
(2024) Sithis: ready my knife
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): hmm.. not rolling right
(2007) GM: That's 3 fatigue, plus 1 per minute, for the Flaming Weapon. And the Armor is free. - DR2?
(2021) Arganyev: so we are going through a lower entrance
(2019) Lenia: ((Did you set the GURPS roller? /dieroller gurps.))
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): dr 1 would be free to maintain, flaming weapon would be also
(2024) Sithis: are there a lower entrance?
(2020) Singeon: I agree on the lower entrance.
(2023) Thog: *nods
(2024) Sithis: I don't know if there is...
(2019) Lenia: There are a couple of tunnel entrances down there. Shall we?
(2007) GM: Okay.
(2020) Singeon: Let's go!
(2021) Arganyev: yes
(2007) Narrator: The delvers continued down the narrow canyon. The old path was overgrown, but it was obvious someone had been walking there.
(2024) Sithis: Lenia, do you know the map, then'
(2020) Singeon: Who has the best sight? Keep a lookout ahead.
(2024) Sithis: ?
(2007) Narrator: Ahead of you, there is a small opening near the canyon floor.
(2020) Singeon: I feel like we are being watched.
(2023) Thog: Tracking (13) [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [4,2,3] = 9 vs (13) or less Success! by 4 Includes: +2 from 'Outdoorsman'
(2019) Lenia: You always feel like we're being watched.
(2020) Singeon: However, i always tend to feel like that, so it shouldn't concern you all.
(2007) Narrator: It is heavily reinforced with stone in a classic dwarven style. A long switchback runs up the rock wall to a low cave. Small forms crouch behind a rocky barrier, and then a voice cries out unpleasantly. Arrows began arcing down toward you.
(2024) Sithis: in fact, you are being watched
(2020) Singeon: WHAT???
(2007) GM: Did the narrator stutter?
** (2023) Thog Dive for cover **
(2020) Singeon: i got a bad feeling about this.
(2007) GM: Okay, the map is up. Let me assign tokens really quick, and then you can determine marching order.
** (2019) Lenia dives in the same direction as Thog. **
** (2021) Arganyev runs for cover "We are being attacked!" **
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): heh
(2024) Sithis: hey, very guay)
(2007) GM: 6 goblins on the elevated platform shoot at Thog. [3d6] => [3,4,2] = (9)[3d6] => [1,1,6] = (8)[3d6] => [5,3,6] = (14)[3d6] => [6,2,6] = (14)[3d6] => [2,5,2] = (9)[3d6] => [5,4,2] = (11) v11
(2020) Singeon: Is this our positioning?
(2007) GM: No, set the marching order, but you need to be mostly on the path and no more than 3 hexes in.
** (2023) Thog is sad **
(2007) GM: Okay then.
(2020) Singeon: Someone well armored up front
(2021) Arganyev: me, with All out defense
(2023) Thog: Thog not Cover! Find cover not Thog!
(2020) Singeon: Is the platform that tan area to the north of the map?
(2007) GM: Everyone was Doing Nothing/moving last turn. 4 arrows hit Thog. He had plenty of warning and isn't surprised. He can Dodge, but they used deceptive attacks.
(2019) Lenia: Can I use Deflect Missile?
(2007) GM: The platform is the bit with the 6 goblins on it - 5 yards up.
(2007) GM: No, the attacks weren't aimed at you.
(2007) GM: Thog, dodge or potentially take noticeable amounts of damage.
(2023) Thog: Dodge and Drop +3 to Dodge, against Ranged attacks only {B377}, Dodge (10) [3d6.skill(10,0)] => [3,2,1] = 6 vs (10) or less Success! by 4
(2020) Singeon: Is there a way up?
(2007) GM: See the path outline in grey with the orange lines on it?
(2019) Lenia: Doesn't need to be aimed at me.
(2019) Lenia: 'About to hit the subject' - I just get range penalties to the subject if it's someone else.
(2020) Singeon: OK. I see it. TY
(2021) Arganyev: very clear, Mark
(2007) GM: ah. so you are right, Lenia. But they missed him.

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [30] Thog
(on deck: [28] Sithis)

(2023) Thog: Is there ANY cover?
(2007) GM: Just the canyon walls.
(2020) Singeon: Wall to the south?
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): you make excellent cover
(2007) GM: Yep. Black lines indicate walls.
(2007) GM: the whitish-tan stuff is the cliff walls if anyone wants to try climbing in combat.
(2023) Thog: Can I duck behind the wall to the "south"?
(2007) GM: You're prone. You can try?
** (2023) Thog rolls **

(2021) Arganyev: you would need to go to some wall, Sithis
(2024) Sithis: Again: I will try climbing
(2007) GM: It's 5 yards nearly straight up to the goblins, and they have a barricade.
(2007) GM: Okay, move to a wall within 6 yards.

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Singeon
(on deck: [25] Beltarne)

(2007) GM: Okay.
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): could I take cover in that crack to the north, or is it too small?
(2007) GM: You could try, but it wouldn't be more than 1/2 cover.
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): moving to there, then, free action dropping my pack
(2022) Beltarne(Nate): how do I move my thing with singeon on top of my token?
(2007) GM: There you go.

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Arganyev

(2007) GM: you're pretty big . even again the wall, you won't have more than 1/2 cover if you want to shoot.
(2007) GM: oops...
(2023) Thog: Half cover better than none
(2007) GM: keep crawling?
(2023) Thog: But I'll take full cover (even if I can't shoot) right about now

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Sithis

(2024) Sithis: for the wall
(2021) Arganyev: along the wall)
(2007) GM: Sithis, the wall is climbable, but you'll have to cling to it unless you run along the base.
(2007) GM: okay, that's what you're doing. great.

(2007) GM: -6 for range? you miss.
(2019) Lenia: Any within 10 yards roll HT-3 or are stunned; HT-3 each round to recover. Damage is [1d6] => [1] = (1) in that hex, /3 for each hex past that.
(2019) Lenia: +4 for aiming at the ground.
(2019) Lenia: And -5 for range, I thought.
(2019) Lenia: But either way, a hit.
(2007) GM: penalty for cover. You hit the wall below him.
(2019) Lenia: Hokay. The goal isn't damage. :D
(2007) GM: The goblins save at +3 for cover.

(2007) GM: oops - Sithis is still stunned. the penalty persists.
(2007) GM: No, we'll go with the rules when I see them.
(2019) Lenia: K.

(2007) GM: so you might kill 6 as he flees, but the rest escape.
** (2020) Singeon "The impaling storm is coming!" **
(2007) GM: combat time is over.
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): I pick up my throwing axe, find thog, and thank him for carrying my pack
(2007) GM: what now?
(2020) Singeon: Let the tell the others of our power.
(2019) Lenia: I re-cap the Paut.
(2023) Thog: ... Dis only way in?
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): anyone have any booboos?
(2024) Sithis: I dont know...
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): dwarven mine
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): this as high as all the ways in are, apparently
(2007) GM: Thog - there's another entrance, slightly down the road.
(2028) Arganyev: what is that?
(2007) GM: but it's just as low.
(2020) Singeon: I thank thog for getting the bag.
(2019) Lenia: I think this is the only way in. It gets higher once we get through the front mines, or so I was told.
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): emphasis on dwarven
(2020) Singeon: Thog, I owe you one!
(2007) GM: no one was hurt.
** (2023) Thog sighs, hugely **
(2019) Lenia: I was raised by a delver. I loot the bodies.
(2028) Arganyev: Sithis has area knowledge for the map, that helps?
** (2023) Thog pats Singeon on head. **
(2007) GM: yes. Sithis knows the entire mine has a ceiling less than 5' tall, but the rest of the Caverns are taller.
** (2023) Thog starts stuff one of the gobbo corpses into a sack **
(2028) Arganyev: we can loot these goobos, perhaps they have some key or something useful
** (2020) Singeon puts my backpack on. **
(2020) Singeon: Hey, what for, Thog?
(2023) Thog: Lunch
** (2028) Arganyev is carrying his backpack **
(2019) Lenia: ...
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): bleargh, they're all yours my large friend
(2020) Singeon: you dont have to offer me any. Already ate!
(2019) Lenia: "We have perfectly good rations, Thog. We'll even share."
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): no one hurt then?
(2028) Arganyev: wait Thog!
(2020) Singeon: I think he weats a lot
(2028) Arganyev: perhaps they have keys or something
(2020) Singeon: eats
(2028) Arganyev: no good to eating keys
(2023) Thog: ?
(2028) Arganyev: register them first
(2007) GM: They have knives, bows, 1-2 meteoric iron arrows apiece for the 8 archers. the 3 fighters have a axe, a pick, and a broadsword, plus small shields.
(2024) Sithis: Thog cannot eat goblins, at least in front of lenia
(2020) Singeon: We need to develop our teamwork. We had some problems there. I can't always save you all.
(2023) Thog: Lenia want some Gobbo?
(2028) Arganyev: how we arrange that loot?
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): well, the fighters are rather heavily armed
(2023) Thog: Arrows?
** (2019) Lenia looks pale. Paler. That's a feat. **
(2028) Arganyev: hm
(2007) GM: there's some goblins foodstuff - rat and crow meat, mostly - and 5 glinty rocks on the body of the one with the sword.
(2028) Arganyev: meteoric arrows are good to pick
(2007) GM: Anyone have armory?
(2020) Singeon: Thog gets the arrows?
(2044) Beltarne(Nate): take the mmeteoric arrows, everything else is too heavy to transport
(2023) Thog: Thog want sky-rock arrows!
(2024) Sithis: NOt, Lenia dont likes people eat otthers creatures
(2028) Arganyev: sure
(2020) Singeon: Use them wisely, Thog
(2019) Lenia: "Actually, if he wants to eat the goblins I haven't got any moral objection."
(2023) Thog: Glinty rocks?
(2028) Arganyev: power confers great responsibility, Thog
(2024) Sithis: ok
(2019) Lenia: "It's just the aesthetics of it. Goblins *stink*."
(2020) Singeon: Ogres are like onions.....
(2019) Lenia: ((Get too close to one and your eyes water?))
(2028) Arganyev: lol Singeon
(2023) Thog: If you gots other food, Thog leave gobbo here. No like the taste, anyway. Not like Halfling... yummy!
(2028) Arganyev: creatures within creatures
(2024) Sithis: I want the knives, of course
(2020) Singeon: Some of you are winded. We need to rest a while.
(2028) Arganyev: that is an odious personal habit - expression!
(2007) GM: Is Beltarne on?
(2024) Sithis: I dont have charge
(2028) Arganyev: hm, no one is wounded, right?
(2020) Singeon: FP 1 + Enc level
(2023) Thog: Anyone taking glinty rocks?
(2019) Lenia: "The longer we rest, the more time they have to prepare traps for us. I can push on."
(2020) Singeon: Plus our casters.
(2028) Arganyev: yes

(2049) Beltarne(Nate): I'll take the glinty rocks
(2024) Sithis: how many knives can I pick from them?
(2007) GM: 9, Sithis.
(2020) Singeon: You are right. Let's go.
(2024) Sithis: ooooh!!
(2020) Singeon: Everyone!
(2020) Singeon: Just grab something you like. Enough talk.
(2007) GM: You also find a steel plate laminate corselet in the corner and a medium shield with a shield lamp on it.
(2019) Lenia: I'm relying on other people to carry loot.
(2028) Arganyev: ah aha, Im interested in that, some other too?
(2024) Sithis: I take the mine was in the floor)
** (2020) Singeon yells down the hall "Ready or not, I am coming!" **
(2028) Arganyev: I would take the plate corselet
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): I'll take that medium shield if no one else is going to use it
(2007) GM: there's a cross bow with sight and sling under the shield. no winch for it.
(2023) Thog: Did little man just run off?
(2019) Lenia: Because in exchange, I'll be happy to arrange the sale of stuff once we get back to town.
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): sounds fair to me, Lenia
(2024) Sithis: I want A CROSSbow
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): scoops up crossbow and throws it to sithis
(2024) Sithis: sorry , the upperletter)
(2007) GM: you can't cock it Sithis - it has a metal bow and is too strong for you.
(2023) Thog: Here.
(2024) Sithis: oh! :(
** (2023) Thog cocks crossbow **
(2007) GM: easily.
(2024) Sithis: well
(2020) Singeon: You can get a shot off!
(2023) Thog: Dere
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): thog sure is handy
(2019) Lenia: Really, how often do you want more than one shot with a crossbow per fight?
(2007) GM: there's a dozen bolts on the floor.
(2024) Sithis: I have 9 knives more, not bad :)
(2007) GM: anyone searching for anything else here?
(2028) Arganyev: hey , pick the Long Knife you dropped in the fight, Sithis
(2023) Thog: Thog search?
(2019) Lenia: "Thog, could you bring that Broadsword along? They sell pretty well."
(2024) Sithis: of course!
(2020) Singeon: No Thog. Let's go!
(2007) GM: [3d6.skill(11,0)] => [3,4,2] = 9 vs (11) or less Success! by 2
(2023) Thog: Put stuff in Thog's sack. Thog carry.
(2024) Sithis: can I find anything?
(2028) Arganyev: take this plate corselet, good Thog
whispering to Lenia, The broadsword is well made, and matches the description of the Hopfing family sword.
(2023) Thog: But not pointy things, they rip sack.
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): sheat?
(2019) Lenia: "Heeeeey."
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): sheath, that is
(2028) Arganyev: Thog, I cant see you(r token)
(2007) GM: it's got a sheathe, sure.
(2019) Lenia: "I think this is the sword we were supposed to retrieve, guys."
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): really?
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): awesome
(2023) Thog: YAY!
(2023) Thog: What?
(2028) Arganyev: any distinctive trait in it?
(2019) Lenia: "Yeah, look at the pommel and handguard here. That's the markings we were told about."
(2020) Singeon: Too easy.
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): we still need to find out what happened to the guys brother, though, right?
(2020) Singeon: Why you think it?
(2028) Arganyev: yes, I m here for finding, too, what happened to some other people
whispering to Sithis, you can search, roll skill
(2020) Singeon: He's not attached to the sword. Can't be good.
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): indeed
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): we ready to move?
(2024) Sithis: Are here any nice and small??
(2007) GM: no... the glinty rocks are gone.
(2020) Singeon: Ready, willing, and more than able!!!!
(2028) Arganyev: hm=?
(2024) Sithis: Are there anything nice like rings and such??
(2024) Sithis: no??
(2007) GM: 2 of the goblins have small silver rings.
(2024) Sithis: aaah!
(2023) Thog: Pretty!
** (2020) Singeon keeps vigil buy the tunnel **
(2007) GM: anything else?
(2020) Singeon: Nice
(2024) Sithis: I want 1
(2024) Sithis: can I?
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): any bodies we haven't searched?
(2020) Singeon: If it aint magical we sell and split the money
(2007) GM: no, that's all of them. no magic here.
(2020) Singeon: In the end you can have it for its value, i guess
(2019) Lenia: ((The Haste spell on Thog expires eventually, I'm not paying to maintain it.))
(2023) Thog: Awww.
(2007) GM: okay. what are you doing now?
(2024) Sithis: :((
(2019) Lenia: ((Sorry. It costs double to maintain and cast, which means I can't keep it up for free. =/))
(2007) GM: heading back to town in triumph?
(2023) Thog: YAY!
(2020) Singeon: No.
(2019) Lenia: We're not even remotely triumphant yet. Onward!
(2020) Singeon: We move on.
(2028) Arganyev: there is more room to explore
(2023) Thog: YAY!
(2020) Singeon: How big is this place?
(2007) Narrator: Elated on their effortless victory, the delvers plunged into the mines.
(2023) Thog: Crawled
(2019) Lenia: Effortless? I'm down like 6FP here. It's like a marathon.
(2028) Arganyev: we arent wounded, but it wasnt automatically successful!
(2019) Lenia: ((Don't mind us. Arguing with the narrator is a time-honored Delver pastime.))
(2020) Singeon: Bad luck hurt us
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): took us four hours to kill em all
(2007) GM: The mines have a 4' 6" ceiling. they are braced with wood and some Dwarven concrete supports. The floor and walls are hard rock.
(2020) Singeon: Dropping weapons. Turning in hand. Anything like that could be then for the best of us.
(2007) Narrator: The mines have a 4' 6" ceiling. they are braced with wood and some Dwarven concrete supports. The floor and walls are hard rock.
(2023) Thog: nextinit
(2023) Thog: Sorry

(2020) Singeon:
Use /d for descrtions. Just like a DND module.

(2007) GM: Beltarne, make 3 prospecting rolls.
(2007) GM: oooh...
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): whats the default for that?
(2007) GM: IQ-1 for you.
(2007) GM: You pickaxe fiend.
(2020) Singeon: Just /d
(2020) Singeon: Followed by text
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): [3d6] => [3,4,1] = (8)
(2028) Arganyev: no idea what is happening
(2020) Singeon: Sorry
** (2020) Singeon leans against a wall, tapping his foot impatiently. **
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): [3d6] => [5,3,5] = (13)
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): [3d6] => [1,6,6] = (13)

led by Sithis' scholarly knowledge of the mines, the delvers searched through the Mines.

(2049) Beltarne(Nate): all successes
(2007) Narrator: Hmm.. no purple process, though.
(2020) Singeon: Arganyev, let's go on and clear some rooms. They can catch up.
(2024) Sithis: anyone can to put the tokens where they are?
(2028) Arganyev: wait for a moment, Singeon
(2007) GM: I didn't make a map of this part.
(2028) Arganyev: we need to know what is happening here!
(2023) Thog: We're about done for the night anyway, right?
(2028) Arganyev: ok Mark, no problem
(2007) GM: You're wondering through the dwarf mines right now.
(2007) GM: Just about. 10-15 minutes.
(2028) Arganyev: yes, that is waiting for us to plunge in
(2020) Singeon: Its 10, 11 for mark

On the way through the mines, they past evidence of the fleeing goblins, but never encountered them. They did, however, find 3 veins of gold ore.

(2049) Beltarne(Nate): nice
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): marking them on the map
(2023) Thog: Gold or what?
(2023) Thog: :)

Beltarne scraped off some easily accessible gold ore, worth $800.

(2020) Singeon: Gold... is good.
(2007) Narrator: Eventually, the delvers came to the limits of the map.
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): ((BTW, adding everything we're picking up to the gear spreadsheet))
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): here there be dragons!
(2019) Lenia: ((Thanks, Nate.))
(2020) Singeon: What about encumbrance. Are we dividing it?
(2023) Thog: ((Thank you!))
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): ((I'll figure it out and post it later tonight))
(2007) Narrator: The shaft they are in suddenly opens into a wide chasm, deeper than your lights can easily see across. The top of the chasm is at least 10 yards above, studded with stalacttites. The wall to left and right are mostly sheer and again run further than you can see, curving somwhat away from you. THere is a faint glow on the left, but no light source.
(2024) Sithis: I have light continue
(2007) Narrator: The far wall of the chasm is easily 20 yards away, faintly visible in your lights. It looks like there might be a cave entrance almost directly across the way.
(2020) Singeon: I toss a rock into the chasm and listen.
(2007) Narrator: A few charred wood spars and supports suggest there was once a bridge spanning the chasm.
(2019) Lenia: Is there anything that could anchor a rope on the other side of the chasm?
(2007) GM: It falls for a long time before clunking off the walls and eventually the floor.
(2020) Singeon: This is the way the gobbues ran?
(2007) GM: Yes, Lenia. There's the burnt supports and moorings.
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): is there any sort of path off to the left where the faint glow is coming from?
(2007) GM: No,Beltarne.
(2023) Thog: We could stick the rope in the far wall...
(2007) GM: And Thog, the opening across the way is much taller.
(2023) Thog: YAY!
(2020) Singeon: This is the way the gobbies ran, right?
(2007) GM: No.
(2020) Singeon: Oh
(2007) GM: I mean, hell no. They fleed up the air tunnels.
(2020) Singeon: ok
(2019) Lenia: Goblins aren't totally stupid after all. Who knew?
(2023) Thog: Pretty lady got rope?
(2020) Singeon: Can the stalactities be climbed?
(2019) Lenia: "We have lots of rope. I can even get it across the chasm pretty easily. I just don't know if I can get it there securely enough to hold someone your size, Thog."
(2007) GM: They're 10 yards up and hanging down.
(2007) GM: I mean, you could try...
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): I'm a fair climber, I could strip off some armor and carry some rope across
(2020) Singeon: And you would like that? Mr. GM?
whispering to Thog, Think how easy this would be if you were still a flying Leprechaun? =)
(2023) Thog: Why don't I shoot arrow into far wall, then you tie knot to it?
(2020) Singeon: I am fair as well. Not an expert by any means. But i know I can make it!
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): I don't think it would hold your weight, there, big guy
(2020) Singeon: I'll go.
(2019) Lenia: "I can just magick it across, we can get someone lighter over it, and they can secure it better."
(2020) Singeon: Really?
(2019) Lenia: "...Oh hell, I'm the lightest one, aren't I."
(2020) Singeon: But I can make it, no problem. Save your energy.
(2028) Arganyev: KLenia do you have good dexterity or related skills?
(2019) Lenia: "I just don't like the idea of one of us stuck -- what, sixty feet down -- with no way to get help if it all goes pear-shaped."
(2007) GM: Sithis is pretty light...
(2024) Sithis: No, you not the lightest, I think
(2024) Sithis: I agree with the GM
(2020) Singeon: You don't think Singeon can do it? To hell with you.
(2028) Arganyev: one of the ladies, whatever, can be sure if we are grappling them with the ropes
(2019) Lenia: "I think you can do it, Singeon, I just think that if you get in trouble down there we can't help you."
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): We tie a rope around his waist before he tries to freeclimb
(2028) Arganyev: he? Singeon?
(2007) GM: What's the plan?
(2024) Sithis: Singeon is too much hard
(2028) Arganyev: hard?
(2023) Thog: I shoot rope across
(2019) Lenia: We have some high-test rope, right? The heavy stuff?
(2024) Sithis: heavy, sorry
(2028) Arganyev: or heavy? xD
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): we can't see anything to the left or the right, just the remains of the bridge and the stallactites above?
(2028) Arganyev: Thog perhaps the arrow isnt going to be enough well attached
(2020) Singeon: I'm too much hard?
(2023) Thog: THOG SHOOT ROPE ACROSS!
(2020) Singeon: lol
(2019) Lenia: "Someone tie me a slipknot on the end of the rope. I'll magick it over, loop it on one of those braces, Sithis can scamper across, make sure it's secure, and then the rest of us can go across."
(2024) Sithis: no, pardon. I wanted say "heavy"
(2020) Singeon: Ah... lol
(2028) Arganyev: are you ready for that, Sithis?
(2007) GM: THog - which rope are you shooting?
** (2023) Thog looks around for a rope **
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): hands thog 30 yards of rope
(2019) Lenia: ((With Perfect Balance, I don't think Sithis even needs to roll to get across the rope.))
(2028) Arganyev: so she is going to make some tighrope walking
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): from my backpack
(2024) Sithis: sure!
(2023) Thog: Anyone know how to tie hitch?
(2024) Sithis: oh! I like this!
(2049) Beltarne(Nate): not my character
(2020) Singeon: Impressive. I have good balance too.
(2007) GM: okay. what's the plan now?
(2024) Sithis: but too much heavy, and hard
(2007) GM: Thog is shooting rope - what kind? and then Sithis is walking across it?
(2019) Lenia: I think we're doing the slipknot and Apportation thing.
** (2023) Thog sighs **
(2028) Arganyev: you are so hard, Singeon, you can really *hurt* the floor if you fall down
(2024) Sithis: Thog soothing rope??
(2007) GM: or Lenia is Apporting the rope over (still, which rope?) and Sithis is going over?
(2023) Thog: Thog use defualt knot-tying...
(2007) GM: Or Singeon is going?
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): it's the 300 lb test rope
(2024) Sithis: I dont trust Thog
(2028) Arganyev: lets see...
** (2020) Singeon rolls to resist his well founded belief that he can do anything. **
(2020) Singeon: Overconfidence roll: [3d6.skill(12,0)] => [5,1,2] = 8 vs (12) or less Success! by 4
(2028) Arganyev: I dont trust the capability of the arrow to reemain struck!
(2019) Lenia: Sithis, are you any good with knots? If not, I can try. ((It's Climbing -4))
(2028) Arganyev: Singeon wants to do this!
(2007) GM: Thog's other arrows were driven 1' into the walls outside.
(2020) Singeon: I defer to Sithis on this.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): this might work after all
(2028) Arganyev: so Thog's arrows are good enough for this
(2020) Singeon: I think she can do it.
(2024) Sithis: hmmmm reallly I dont know
(2028) Arganyev: you can, too, but there will be more chances
(2019) Lenia: ...I think we're neglecting one important point.
(2020) Singeon: I worry about the anchor however. Pulling out.
(2028) Arganyev: and when Sithis is in the other side of the chasm, what then?
(2019) Lenia: How long after being fired does a Cornucopia arrow last?
(2024) Sithis: I have 19-4, 15 then
(2028) Arganyev: that is my worry, Singeon, the arrow-anchor dettaching
(2007) GM: There's wood on the other side of the chasm, remember - the burnt bridge bits.
(2024) Sithis: is good?
(2020) Singeon: What about meteroic arrow.
(2028) Arganyev: Knots 15)
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): for the love of Grom, shoot the durn Arrow, I'LL shimmy across, and it it doesn't hold, the rope is tied to me
(2023) Thog: Knot-Tying (9): [3d6.skill(9)] => 3d6.skill(9)
(2019) Lenia: "I'm worried about the arrow-anchor *vanishing*."
(2023) Thog: Thog Aims
(2007) GM: Sithis can walk across the rope. and you have plenty of spare arrows from the goblins - they each had 15
(2028) Arganyev: vanishing? loll , why? is it magical?
(2007) GM: yes, thog has a quiver of magic arrows.
(2024) Sithis: doesnt matter, I'll do :)
(2028) Arganyev: ok
(2020) Singeon: Yes, once over there we can make the anchor safer for the heavier of us.
(2023) Thog: Thog Aims
(2028) Arganyev: ok lets go
(2019) Lenia: Fire away.
(2028) Arganyev: I start looking at you
(2023) Thog: Ready?
(2007) GM: Thog trivially sinks the arrow into the wood.
(2024) Sithis: i'm ready too
(2007) GM: It is very securely anchored - he can pull it out, but Beltarne can't.
(2023) Thog: [2d6+8] => [3,6,8] = (17)
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): So, now we take Arganyev's heavier rope, tie it to sSithis' waist, and have thog hold on to make sure if she slips, we can reel her back up
(2028) Arganyev: ok
(2019) Lenia: ((Silly question time: Can I use Apportation to lift *myself* in an emergency?))
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): go for broke, SIthis
(2024) Sithis: ok
(2007) GM: Yes, you can Lenia, but it's expensive.
(2019) Lenia: Not nearly so expensive as falling to the floor of the chasm.
(2007) GM: Sithis walks across like she's walking on a broad street, not a 3/8" cord.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): Remember, if ye fall, cover yer head
(2020) Singeon: This is going to be good.
(2028) Arganyev: wait Sithis, arrange well your cloak for acting as a pillow if you hit the wall while falling ;)
(2023) Thog: ((Guys, I've got to go soon...))
(2020) Singeon: Roll
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): I can heal durn near anythin else
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): Alright lass, tie it off
(2028) Arganyev: what next.. . she has night vision
(2007) Narrator: The far side of the cavern has a few more charred bridge supports. The cave opening is a little more than 3 yards tall and wide, and leads into a curving tunnel that slants slightly upward.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): ((tie knot should really be subsumed into Climbing))
(2007) GM: Agreed.
(2019) Lenia: Do we have a spike or something to secure it on this end?
(2007) GM: Okay, with Sithis across and Arganyev's rope, the rest of you can cross easily enough.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): Sure, I have iron spikes an a mallet
(2023) Thog: ?
(2023) Thog: Really?
(2007) GM: We'll call it here for the night. You can explore the rest of the Caverns next week.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): yay!
(2028) Arganyev: we cross across the rope?
(2007) GM: Yeah, Arganyev has 1100 lb test line.
(2023) Thog: YAY!
(2019) Lenia: We cross on the heavy rope, with balance from the thinner one.
(2020) Singeon: We need two ropes, one for the feet, one to grab with hands.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): crossing a rope is trivial, just hand over hand it
(2028) Arganyev: OK Mark
(2020) Singeon: Yes
(2023) Thog: Hugs for Argy!
(2007) GM: Heh.
(2020) Singeon: Good work!
(2028) Arganyev: ehhehe
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): thats harder than just hanging from a rope and pulling yourself along, really
(2028) Arganyev: good rope
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): but whatever works
(2007) Mark: Good game, folks. We'll see how things go next week.
(2023) Thog: And thus, the delvers invented the Heavy Jackstay...
(2020) Singeon: Can we get the rope back?
(2028) Arganyev: I bought that rope for tying monsters ;)
(2024) Sithis: Well, later, we can read the log?
(2020) Singeon: Thanks Mark. Was real fun.
(2019) Lenia: Do we get CP for the gobbos? And can we un-secure the rope?
(2007) GM: Yes, I'll have the log up later.
(2028) Arganyev: tomorrow, I think
(2019) Lenia: Thanks for the game, Mark. =)
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): we should be able to, have sithis untie the heavy, cross back on the light, then have Lenia apportate the light back to us
(2023) Thog: Highlight of my week.
(2024) Sithis: Thanks Mark :)
(2007) GM: Okay. Good plan.
(2051) Beltarne(Nate): night folks
(2028) Arganyev: OK, then we will continue from this point
(2020) Singeon: goodnight all
(2007) GM: You get 2 CP for fighting the fodder goblins (lots of fodder goblins, in an ambush)
