Kevin: Yeah, okay. An amulet with Daylight-Strength Continual Light has a cost of $8000 for enchantments. Cramming it in as Signature Gear would cost me 14 more points. Glow Vials it is!
Mark: One of the 500 little ways this delving band's life got more difficult since Lenia left.

Narrator: The delvers have returned to the Fens of Despair. After wandering through the fens for a few days chasing the directions of a bunch of ravens, they now find themselves approaching what they can only assume is the druid's house.
Narrator: It is a well-made cottage with a shingle roof, floating in mid-air near a large tree branch. A small path leads from the root of the tree to a pond formed by the back-up of waters on a small stream. The stream is dammed, apparently by badgers.
GM: You think you've been watched, for at least the last 12 hours or so, maybe the last day, possibly since you entered the Fens.
Berkun: "I can feel the animals are looking at us from somewhere... Can't place them, but they know we're coming. Let's be careful at what traps might be"
** Ayake looks at Connell. "He is - or was - one of your brethren. How do we proceed?" **
Mordreona: "Can't we just go home now? This place is awful."
** Mrugnak waves at the swamp rats. **
Mrugnak: I believe we saw swamp rats? Or just their little houses? :D
Connell: "Well... first, we have to assume everything here is under his control. The trees, the animals, the rocks and water and winds and - pretty much anything not actually on fire. And," he looks up at the floating cottage, "honestly I wasn't expecting that. It's kind of ostentatious, really. I mean, flying buildings? That's wizard stuff, like Lenia would do."
GM: You don't see any swamp rats. Just their homes.
** Mrugnak thinks really hard. **
Mrugnak: "Set dem trees on fire, den dey're not bad?"
Connell: "No."
Berkun: "Not on fire? Huh, so what chances do we have getting a bottle of alchemist fire up to him?"
Mrugnak: "oh."
Connell: How far up is that cottage?
** Mrugnak peers suspiciously at the trees, and their branches which are so inconveniently closer to his head than everyone else's. "Dese trees... dey gonna bitecha or wot?" **
Connell: "Hold on, I am having an idea."
GM: The bottom cottage is about 10 yds off the ground.
Mrugnak: "Leneee gots some cream fer dat."
whispering to Connell, The windows on the cottage are firmly shuttered. No smoke rises from the chimney.
Berkun: "Oh, and we should undam the dam. I don't know why it's there, but instincts tell me that it's better to sabotage things just in case..."
whispering to Mrugnak, The windows on the cottage are firmly shuttered. No smoke rises from the chimney.
whispering to Berkun, The windows on the cottage are firmly shuttered.
Berkun: "In enemy territory, I mean."
Berkun: Berkun has his bow out and an arrow ready
whispering to Connell, However, it does seem like there's some light from in the cottage.
Mrugnak: "Oh, dat der swamp rats. Dey makes things."
** Connell drums his fingers on his chin, and then says, "Well. I could just raise the whole hillside up to the cottage... I'd end up too tired to fight after that, but I could do it." **
Berkun: "What about a bottle of alchemist fire down the chimney? Do you have some way to do it?"
Connell: (( Alter Terrain. This is today's Brilliant Plan. You guys have a few minutes drive over here and stop me. ))
Connell: "Well, I could fly up and do that, I suppose."
Berkun: "Or better, just plug the chimney and kill whatever goes to fix it..."
GM: Is that even on your spell list?
Mrugnak: (( wouldn't Shape Earth be a little less... drastic? ))
Connell: (( It is on my spell list, because ... well because this is the sort of person I am. ))
Berkun: "Maybe there's a way to bring the house down instead of bringing us up...?"
Connell: (( Shape Earth wouldn't be as efficient, I think. Let me check. ))
Mrugnak: (( Move Terain would be hilarious. ))
Ayake: ((Pack the hillside up and carry it off somewhere? Ha.))
Mrugnak: (( just take him back to civilization along with his secret lair, and dump him in the bigest, nastiest city we can find so his powers all fall off. ))
Connell: (( Yeah, Shape Earth wouldn't work, for the 15 energy you'd spend on Alter Terrain you'd only be able to temporarily shift 15 cubic yards of earth. Alter Terrain gives me a stone ramp that lasts two days. ))
GM: So what's the plan?
** Mrugnak eyes the trees suspiciously. **
Connell: First I consider Berkun's idea. What's keeping that house up, just Sheer Druid Mojo?
Ayake: "Whatever you feel best, Druid. I suspect we should do it quickly, though. Confucius say, the stone which does not roll gathers only moss."
Berkun: What's under the hut?
GM: You have no idea. It isn't natural.
Berkun: But it's floating in the air, isn't it?
GM: Beneath the hut is air and swampy reeds over muddy ground.
Berkun: So, what's visible from underneath?
GM: You'd have to walk over there.
Berkun: mmm... so it looks like it didn't move a lot and gathered moss?
Connell: "Okay. This spell is going to take some time. Keep me safe." He pulls out a vial of paut, and gestures for people to surround him before he starts casting.
Berkun: Berkun steps forward and keeps ready and alert for danger
GM: Uhmmm... from where you're standing, 30 yards away, the underside of the hunt looks mossy.
GM: ...
Berkun: so it was there for a long time
GM: Is Connell really planning on casting with a -20 or so penalty for distance? Because that moves the dial past "psychotic" and over into "no longer functional"
Connell: Woops.
Connell: "Buuut first we need to get closer."
Connell: 15y from the front door should do it. Er, if the front door were on the ground.
** Mrugnak draws his weapons and keeps pace with Connell, ready to fend off evil trees. **
Berkun: Berkun goes first, careful
Connell: Or, wait, no - it's base cost 1, minimum 15, so 15y radius, so if it's 30y from here to the door, and the penalty is based on distance from the edge of the effect...
GM: Alright. Mordy will cover the rear.
Connell: Plant the centre 15 yards ahead, that covers 30 yards exactly from edge to edge.
GM: Clever.
GM: Let me look something up.
GM: You can alter the local terrain by +/-4 yards within the area of effect.
Connell: What?
GM: "Volumes taller than 4 yards may be affect by multiplying the base cost accordingly."
GM: Magic P55.
GM: Hmmm.
GM: Okay, how am I supposed to read that, folks?
GM: Does he pay for the volume he changes, or is extra to move mountains?
Connell: That didn't make much sense to me either. I just went by "reshaped as the caster chooses" in the spell description.
Berkun: 4 times the cost?
Mrugnak: I don't think you get to exceed the original area just because you "chooses"
Connell: Yeah, but what's the "area" cover?
Mrugnak: Mind you it's Minimum cost 15, not minimum radius.
Mrugnak: 4 yards high, n yards radius.
GM: How about you can raise it 5 yards, 10 yards costs double, but you're allowed to reduce the radius to meet the minimum cost.
GM: That fair?
Mrugnak: So if you made it, say, [15/4] => 3 radius...
Ayake: We could do it with, say, a 5-yard radius, 8 yards high, for 10 FP.
Ayake: We'd just have to get closer.
Mrugnak: or that.
Mrugnak: He's got a minimum of 15 FP to spend.
Ayake: Right.
Berkun: maybe just an improvised ladder?
Mrugnak: Mrugnak could throw people.
Mrugnak: Or lift you guys up.
Berkun: huh, we have time, let's just lay siege
Mrugnak: And then um, throw you.
Mrugnak: I guess.
Ayake: Either way, I think we need to get closer.
GM: No, this is cool. 8 yard radius, 10 yards high will do you fine.
Berkun: hey, I know!
Berkun: First let's have Mrugnak shape earth with a shovel...
Berkun: then cast the spell
Ayake: Nah, I'm good with Mark's take on it.
Berkun: Mrugnak can manage 2 foot tall mound
Ayake: We just have to close some of the distance.
Mrugnak: 10 Yards (9.14400 meters) up, not 10 feet (3.04800 meters)
GM: Berkun moves forward. Nothing happens. What about everyone else.
Berkun: yards, feet... same weird stuff;)
Mrugnak: Mrugnak stands guard over Connell while he works on his Eye-Deer problem.
Mrugnak: Especially watching those trees.
Mrugnak: Mrugnak's a fool, but he KNOWS trees are big.
Narrator: The delvers approach the floating house. They are suspicious, as they know something odd is going on.
** Ayake has achieved a Zen state of uncaring. **
Narrator: Connell squares his shoulders and begins casting a spell to create a hilltop.
Narrator: They they hear a muffled shout from inside the door, and clouds of pollen burst out of rapidly growing flowers around them and pelting hail drops from the sky!
GM: You're all in a large Pollen Cloud. Everyone can roll HT-5 to resist; -2 more for Berkun because he's sensitive to magic.
GM: Failure is -2 to DX while you're in the cloud and 3d6 turns later.
Ayake: Body Control: [3d6.skill(14,+1-5)] => [2,1,6] = 9 vs (10) or less Success! by 1
Berkun: [3d6.skill(13,-5-2)] => [1,5,6] = 12 vs (6) or less Failure! by 6
Berkun: ah
Berkun: luck
Berkun: [3d6.skill(13,-5-2)] => [4,6,1] = 11 vs (6) or less Failure! by 5
Mrugnak: HT (13) [3d6.skill(13,-5+1)] => [2,1,4] = 7 vs (9) or less Success! by 2 Blessed
Connell: HT: [3d6.skill(14,-5)] => [3,5,1] = 9 vs (9) or less Success! by 0
Berkun: (luck is one re-roll or more?)
Ayake: ((Ayake's speed is 7. Not sure where that puts him.))
GM: 2
Berkun: [3d6.skill(13,-5-2)] => [2,2,6] = 10 vs (6) or less Failure! by 4
Mrugnak: (( dang. ))
Berkun: still no chance
Ayake: ((One more.))
GM: Total of 3 - Berkun is sneezy!
Ayake: ((Three rolls total, choose the best result.))
Berkun: still no chance
Berkun: [3d6.skill(13,-5-2)] => [2,3,5] = 10 vs (6) or less Failure! by 4
Berkun: I mean nah
Berkun: it's -2 to DX
GM: Blue area is the hail (distracting, not damaging) and yellow area is the pollen cloud.
Ayake: Any special terrain effects on movement or retreating?
Narrator: As the delvers gasp and shiver, the door to the cottage opens and a man in dirty yellow and green robes is visible in the frame. He holds a rotten wood staff in one hand, a large nimbus of crackling energy surrounding the tip.
GM: Swamp is swampy: no retreat without special abilities. The path is hard ground, though.
Ayake: Does Light Walk count as a special ability?
GM: Orange bits of trees are cover, but you can walk under the green bits safely.
GM: Uhm, certainly, 1 roll per retreat at whatever penalties apply.
Ayake: Cheers.

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Mordreona
(on deck: [28] Berkun)

Mordreona: [3d6.skill(13,2-5)] => [4,3,6] = 13 vs (10) or less Failure! by 3
Mordreona: "Ack! I hate this place!" Stealth away [3d6.skill(21,-2-5)] => [1,5,5] = 11 vs (14) or less Success! by 3

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Berkun
(on deck: [28] Fast Enemies)

Berkun: Berkun moves...
Berkun: (should there be a token on the map for the druid?)
GM: Doh!
Berkun: oh, okay
Berkun: so, move and attack
GM: Great. The tree counts as cover for the druid, 10 yds above you.
GM: -3 to hit for the cover.
Berkun: so -10 total
Berkun: [3d6.skill(20,1+2-10)] => [1,2,5] = 8 vs (13) or less Success! by 5
Berkun: got him...
Berkun: normal barbed arrow, no called shooting...
Berkun: this is just a test
GM: Range is 12+20, so -8 for range, -2 DX, -3 cover... is still a hit.
Berkun: (right)
Druid: "Defilers!" Dodges [3d6.skill(10,2)] => [5,3,3] = 11 vs (12) or less Success! by 1
Narrator: The druid ducks out of the way of the arrow at the last second.

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Fast Enemies
(on deck: [28] Ayake)

Animals: Giant eagles drop from out of the sky, weaving and dodging as they dive closer to the ground and prepare their attack runs.
GM: Berkun, make a Perception test at -4.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(14,-4)] => [4,5,2] = 11 vs (10) or less Failure! by 1
Animals: The Panther jumps out of the tree onto Berkun, going for a slam and claw Death from Above routine! [3d6.skill(17,2-4)] => [1,3,5] = 9 vs (15) or less Success! by 6 DA-4/-2
GM: Berkun is surprised by the attack and at -4 to defend.
GM: Sorry, no Active Defense (B402)
Berkun: oh, how nice
GM: Yeah, you've seen this movie before, didn't like it then either.
GM: Damage is [(5d6+5)/2] => 15.5 versus [(3d6+3)/2] => 7.0
GM: It slams into you pretty hard, knocking you prone and doing 15 damage.
Berkun: right
GM: Armor does protect... so 9? Make a HT check against major wound.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(13,0)] => [1,4,3] = 8 vs (13) or less Success! by 5
Druid: Panicked explosive lightning bolt shot at Mrugnak's feat [3d6.skill(18,4-4-3)] => [4,5,1] = 10 vs (15) or less Success! by 5
Druid: Steps back inside the cottage.
GM: Mrugnak and others - doing anything about the explosive lightning bolt going off at your feet?
Connell: Retreating dodge of some kind?
Ayake: Is it possible to retreat without dropping?
GM: No.
Ayake: In that case, no. >.>
Mrugnak: Um. Hm. I could fall on it.
GM: Connell, you can dodge and drop to move 1 yard away, end up prone.
Mrugnak: I've done that before. Didn't work out so well, really.
Ayake: ((I'm 4 yards away, that divides rolled damage by 12, and I have 5 nonmetallic DR. I'm comfortable with this.))
Ayake: There are rules for that!
Ayake: We get your DR*2 plus your HP as additional DR against the explosion.
Mrugnak: Yeah. I'm thinking that may not quite work with my DR being largely metallic.
Ayake: But you take full possible damage.
Mrugnak: Also, this was aimed at Mrugnak, not at everyone else, and everyone's behind him really.
Mrugnak: So yeah. I think I'm just going to leap out of the way.
Mrugnak: Dodge and Drop.
GM: Connell - what about you?
Mrugnak: Dodge (9) [3d6.skill(9,+3-2+1)] => [5,2,2] = 9 vs (11) or less Success! by 2 Blessed
Connell: I... am following Ayake's lead.
GM: Okay. Base damage is [12d6-12] => [1,3,1,1,1,2,1,6,2,6,1,3,-12] = (16)
Ayake: Wow.
Ayake: That is a *lot* of 1s.
GM: As we all know, minotaurs aren't magically conductive.
GM: Mrugnak takes 16 damage, metallic DR protects with DR1.
GM: Connell takes... 3 damage, same deal.
Ayake: If he retreated a hex, he should take [16/3] => 5
GM: Ayake gets a nice buzz.
GM: Explosive spells affect the target hex and adjacent hexes with full strength.
Ayake: Right.
GM: It's the only way they're even vaguely useful.
Ayake: But, it's full torso DR.
GM: Right again.
Ayake: (With DR1 for the metal)
Mrugnak: Hrm, I did not know that about the range thing.
Mrugnak: DR1 for each layer of metal? >.>
GM: Heh. No.
Connell: (( So DR1 for armor, +1 fortify... 1 damage? Ok. ))
Mrugnak: dang
Mrugnak: so 2 for Mrugnak, 1 for metal, 1 for Fortify. 4. 12 damage
Ayake: Also, HT roll at -1 per 2 points of injury suffered, or stunned.
Ayake: Flat HT to recover each turn.
GM: Mrugnak rolls at -2 (1 per 2HP, etc etc). Connell rolls at no penalty.
Mrugnak: Scales for 30 HP I think?
Mrugnak: Like shock and healing.
GM: Right, I just said that.
Mrugnak: ah, k.
Connell: HT: [3d6.skill(14,0)] => [2,3,1] = 6 vs (14) or less Success! by 8
Mrugnak: HT (13) [3d6.skill(13,0+1)] => [1,4,6] = 11 vs (14) or less Success! by 3 Blessed
Mrugnak: -2 for success by 1
GM: Berserker?
Mrugnak: Also, berserk!
Mrugnak: [3d6.skill(15,+1)] => [5,2,5] = 12 vs (16) or less Success! by 4

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Ayake
(on deck: [26] Connell)

** Ayake quickly weighs the value of hanging around in the pollen cloud vs. the value of saving Berkun, and decides to save the archer first and worry about Connell later. 1 FP for Heroic Charge; move and attack the panther with a claw strike, using Telescoping Weapon for +1 reach and Crippling Blow in an attempt to stun it. SM is +1 for +1 to hit? **
GM: Yes indeed.
Ayake: Telescoping Weapon: [3d6.skill(17,+1-5)] => [1,6,6] = 13 vs (13) or less Success! by 0
Ayake: Crippling Blow: [3d6.skill(17,+1-5)] => [4,4,3] = 11 vs (13) or less Success! by 2
Ayake: Karate Punch: Deceptive -10/5 [3d6.skill(24,+1+1-10)] => [1,5,5] = 11 vs (16) or less Success! by 5
GM: Unlucky. Roll twice again, take the worst.
Ayake: On the attack?
GM: Oh, and you're at -2 for striking into close combat.
GM: Yes on the attack.
Ayake: Karate Punch: Deceptive -10/5 [3d6.skill(24,+1+1-10-2)] => [3,4,1] = 8 vs (14) or less Success! by 6
Ayake: Karate Punch: Deceptive -10/5 [3d6.skill(24,+1+1-10-2)] => [3,6,1] = 10 vs (14) or less Success! by 4
GM: Well, he tried.
Animals: Panther dodges! [3d6.skill(11,-5-2)] => [3,2,3] = 8 vs (4) or less Failure! by 4
Ayake: Claw of the Iron Tiger: [2d6+3] => [3,6,3] = (12) cut
Ayake: HT at -1 per 2 penetrating damage, or the panther is stunned.
Narrator: Ayake runs forward and slices at the panther with his tiger claw. The metal imitation animal defeats the real one, and the panther drops in a pile on Berkun.

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Connell
(on deck: [24] Mrugnak)

Berkun: did Berkun drop his weapons?
GM: No.
Berkun: and does he have to get out from under the panther?
GM: He'll need to crawl away, yes.
Connell: :looks around, and decides earth-moving is not a good idea right now. He changes his spell, launching into a different ritual as the hail bounces off his horns. (( Body of Lightning Falcon, Exaggerated words and gestures, fast casting. vs Will to concentrate in hail: [3d6.skill(14,0)] => [2,5,4] = 11 vs (14) or less Success! by 3 . Spell cast: [3d6.skill(16,-5+3)] => [3,2,1] = 6 vs (14) or less Success! by 8 ))
Connell: (( Assuming I have not screwed that up, 1s cast, so he is a falcon made of lightning now. ))
GM: I'm good.
GM: How much FP did you just spend?
Connell: (( 8, I think. ))
Connell: (( 4 from FP, 4 from power item okay? ))

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Mrugnak
(on deck: [24] Slow Enemies)

GM: Isn't Mrugnak prone right this second?
Mrugnak: Yep.
Mrugnak: Although I believe I will spend this turn correcting that!
GM: Heh.
Mrugnak: Change posture, kneeling.
Mrugnak: ***

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Slow Enemies
(on deck: [28] Mordreona)

Animals: Something large and long armed begins swinging on the branch on the far side of the house.
Animals: Two badgers surface, and begin sending out entropic death clouds.
Animals: One next to Connell, one next to Ayake [3d6.skill(14,4-4)] => [6,3,4] = 13 vs (14) or less Success! by 1
[3d6.skill(14,4-4)] => [4,1,6] = 11 vs (14) or less Success! by 3

Animals: Ayake takes [1d6] => [2] = (2) corrosion! Connell takes [1d6] => [4] = (4) corrosion!
Connell: Does this ignore Diffuse?
Ayake: 2 corr does no damage to DR?
Narrator: Flecks of matter and reality begin to peel off of Ayake's armor.
Ayake: And it's an area effect attack, so yes. =/
GM: Yes, full damage to diffuse people.
GM: You still have your armor DR... for now!

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Mordreona
(on deck: [28] Berkun)

Mordreona: "Shit shit shit!" Moves someplace else, still hiding and sniffling.

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Berkun
(on deck: [28] Fast Enemies)

Berkun: if I shoot when lying, down, do I get Acc bonus?
GM: No.
Berkun: acrobatic stand
GM: Acrobatics -6.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(15,-2)] => [1,1,1] = 3 vs (13) or less Critical Success! [B556]
Berkun: -6?
Ayake: Nice!
GM: Whatever.
Berkun: I've got surefooted(uneven and slippery)
GM: Good for you.
Ayake: The Acrobatic Stand technique is Acrobatics-6.
Berkun: or was that for the panther?
Berkun: ah!
Berkun: if I knew, I wouldn't use it
GM: Too late now.
Berkun: heh, good now
Ayake: Critical Success means that was a step. You get more action. >.>
Berkun: oh, splendid
Berkun: fast draw barbed [3d6] => [6,6,1] = (13) fast load[3d6] => [4,4,1] = (9)
Berkun: and shoot the closest eagle...!
Berkun: -9 range
Berkun: right?
GM: Range is... 66?
Berkun: aha
GM: Okay.
GM: -9 it is.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(20,1+2-2-9)] => [3,1,2] = 6 vs (12) or less Success! by 6
GM: Unlucky. Reroll.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(20,1+2-2-9)] => [2,5,5] = 12 vs (12) or less Success! by 0
Berkun: wait, that's a miss
Berkun: -1 for quick shooting
GM: Reroll twice.
Berkun: so no
Berkun: [3d6.skill(20,1+2-2-9)] => [1,2,5] = 8 vs (12) or less Success! by 4
Ayake: You might critfail the other. >.>
GM: At the last second, your hand slips on your bowstream and the arrow goes just slightly wide.

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Fast Enemies
(on deck: [28] Ayake)

Animals: Eagle 1 flies forward, screaming with unnatural waves of panic and fear.
GM: Everyone roll Fear -1.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(11,1-1)] => [5,6,2] = 13 vs (11) or less Failure! by 2
Ayake: Mental Strength: [3d6.skill(14,-1)] => [4,5,3] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1
Berkun: luck
Berkun: [3d6.skill(11,1-1)] => [6,1,6] = 13 vs (11) or less Failure! by 2

Berkun: [3d6.skill(11,1-1)] => [1,4,3] = 8 vs (11) or less Success! by 3
Mrugnak: Fright Check [3d6.frightcheck(12,0+1)] => [6,1,4] = 11 vs (13) or less Success! by 2 Blessed Includes: One use of Living Large
Connell: [3d6.skill(14,-1)] => [3,3,2] = 8 vs (13) or less Success! by 5
Animals: Eagle 2 flies over Mrugnak's head, dropping something off [3d6.skill(14,-3)] => [6,1,5] = 12 vs (11) or less Failure! by 1
Animals: Goes [1d6] => [6] = (6)
Mrugnak: I believe that leaves 5 uses left.
GM: Yes.
Ayake: ((Theoretically, that was skill 16+1-1, but that was the fastest way to cap it at 13 since I couldn't remember 3d6.frightcheck.))
GM: Berkun, you can't use Luck for another 10 minutes.
Berkun: oh
Mordreona: Fear check [3d6.skill(13)] => [3,5,4] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1
GM: Apparently oozing doom has no partial effect on a miss. Dang.
Ayake: It just oozes into and dooms some local vegetation.
Druid: Start muttering and shouting [3d6.skill(16,3-5)] => [4,4,1] = 9 vs (14) or less Success! by 5

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Ayake
(on deck: [26] Connell)

Ayake: 1 FP to Heroic Charge; advance towards the badgers, summon his Chi, and send a wave of searing flame at the nearest one! I hope.
Ayake: I can't touch my token under the AE cloud, though.
Ayake: Aha, got him.
Ayake: Project Blow: [3d6.skill(17,+1-5)] => [1,4,3] = 8 vs (13) or less Success! by 5
Ayake: Conic Blast: [3d6.skill(17,+1-5)] => [4,2,1] = 7 vs (13) or less Success! by 6

Ayake: I lose 2 FP.
GM: Attack roll?
Ayake: Any bonus or penalty for cover or SM?
GM: They're mostly submerged: -4 to hit, +4 DR.
GM: Also, you're in the water now unless you're Light Walking on it or some such.
Ayake: I look like I'm on the path.
GM: One hex up is muddy path, you're in the shallows now.
Ayake: Ah.
GM: 'kay.
Ayake: One hex up it is!
Ayake: Karate: DA -6/3 [3d6.skill(24+1-4-1-6)] => 3d6.skill(24+1-4-1-6)
Ayake: Karate: DA -6/3 [3d6.skill(24,+1-4-1-6)] => [4,2,2] = 8 vs (14) or less Success! by 6

Ayake: Karate: DA -6/3 [3d6.skill(24,+1-4-1-6)] => [5,2,2] = 9 vs (14) or less Success! by 5
GM: Sigh.
GM: What the heck just happened?
Ayake: That's a 100-yard long single-hex wide cone of cutting damage.
GM: Can he dodge?
Ayake: I think a retreating dodge and drop gets him entirely out of the way!
Mrugnak: Missing wouldn't help much with a cone, really.
Mrugnak: AH, only one hex cone!
Ayake: As long as he's not silly and trying to dodge directly backward.
Animals: Badger 1 rolls Perception to realise you're not just waving your arms all funny [3d6.skill(12)] => [5,1,4] = 10 vs (12) or less Success! by 2
Animals: Ducks under the water, retreating dodge and drop!
Ayake: Can we give him my DA as a penalty on the Per check? :P
Animals: Fear enough! [3d6.skill(12,-3)] => [1,3,3] = 7 vs (9) or less Success! by 2

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Connell
(on deck: [24] Mrugnak)

** Connell spreads crackling wings of energy, and gives a loud screech as he takes off, rocketing towards the window of the cottage. (( Air move 24 should get me to the window with a space or two of movement left over? )) **
GM: Sure does. Want to go for a slam on the druid or something?
Connell: Sure why not!
Connell: Actually, I have No Manipulators so... uh, I just bake him in my aura?
Mrugnak: You can slam without manipulators.
Ayake: You can Slam with No Manipulators.
Mrugnak: Body check sorta thing.
Ayake: One of the few things you *can* do. :D
Connell: Also ST 0.
GM: Right, you're running him over with your diffuse body. Roll Brawling, at +1 because the falcon form has higher DX.
GM: Yes, you're not knocking him over...
Ayake: You're running into him so you can bake him with your aura. :D
Ayake: ((Aura is not Emanation - it requires body contact.))
Connell: Ok. [3d6.skill(17,0)] => [5,6,2] = 13 vs (17) or less Success! by 4
Berkun: go for the eyes!
Druid: "What! Thief!" Parries! [3d6.skill(15,-1)] => [2,1,4] = 7 vs (14) or less Success! by 7
GM: He interposes his staff at you in a such a way that you veer off.
GM: Don't ask me.

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Mrugnak
(on deck: [24] Slow Enemies)

Mrugnak: Well, um. stand as a step.
** Connell screeches back - if birds had a word for "necromancer!", that would be it. **
Mrugnak: And yells something threatening, I guess.

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Slow Enemies
(on deck: [28] Mordreona)

Animals: The Gorilla reaches the edge of the tree and begins shimmying down it.
Ayake: Aha! The climbing rules, they can hose someone ELSE for a change.
Ayake: Says the guy with Lizard Climb-18. >.>
Animals: Badger 1 rolls over, begins to resurface cautiously. (can't see until next round, though)
Animals: Badger 2 invokes entropic death on Ayake again. [3d6.skill(14,4-3)] => [5,6,4] = 15 vs (15) or less Success! by 0
Animals: clouds move [1d6] => [6] = (6) dir [1d6] => [1] = (1) yards
Animals: clouds move [1d6] => [2] = (2) dir [1d6] => [3] = (3) yards
Ayake: Retreating dodge and drop out of the area. I don't like corrosion damage.
Mrugnak: Poor trees.
GM: Okay!
Ayake: Light Walk: [3d6.skill(18,+1)] => [5,4,6] = 15 vs (19) or less Success! by 4
GM: Adjust your token.
Ayake: I don't know what penalty I get for mud. Thin Ice is none, so I imagine mud would also be none.
GM: Okay.

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Mordreona
(on deck: [28] Berkun)

Mordreona: Sneak off someplace.

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Berkun
(on deck: [28] Fast Enemies)

Berkun: fast draw barbed[3d6] => [5,2,6] = (13) fast load[3d6] => [1,6,6] = (13)
Berkun: shoot eagle 1...
Berkun: -9 for range, -2 for sneezing
GM: Looks good.
Berkun: Berkun sprints out of the cloud, shaking the sleet off his face and shooting the eagle moving past
Berkun: [3d6.skill(20,+2+1+1-2-9-1)] => [4,4,4] = 12 vs (12) or less Success! by 0
Berkun: got him
GM: Unlucky. Reroll.
Berkun: [3d6.skill(20,+2+1+1-2-9-1)] => [1,2,3] = 6 vs (12) or less Success! by 6
Berkun: ha
Berkun: defense

Berkun: oh
Animals: Giant Eagle dodge! [3d6.skill(10)] => [2,2,1] = 5 vs (10) or less Success! by 5
Berkun: can I use my luck to have it reroll the dodge roll?
GM: Yes you can.
Berkun: sure
Berkun: I use it
Animals: Giant Eagle dodge! [3d6.skill(10)] => [1,3,5] = 9 vs (10) or less Success! by 1
Animals: Giant Eagle dodge! [3d6.skill(10)] => [1,5,4] = 10 vs (10) or less Success! by 0
Ayake: Boo.
Berkun: too bad

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Fast Enemies
(on deck: [28] Ayake)

Druid: Look at the lightning bolt on his staff. Look at the pesky lightning falcon in his way. Rant and rave! "You despoiled the grove! It was healing!" Shoot Berkun from behind [3d6.skill(16,-4-5)] => [6,5,1] = 12 vs (7) or less Failure! by 5
Druid: Missed Connell, too. Hits Badger 2 [3d6.skill(7)] => [3,5,1] = 9 vs (7) or less Failure! by 2
Ayake: Hits the water?
Ayake: You know we like when big lightning bolts hit water.
Druid: Hits the water? [3d6.skill(9)] => [3,4,4] = 11 vs (9) or less Failure! by 2
Ayake: (Though it's beyond 1/2d once it hits the water anyway.)
GM: No, it goes completely wild.
Berkun: bad luck for bad luck:)
Animals: Eagle 1 stoops and slams Berkun [3d6.skill(17,-4)] => [3,6,3] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1 DA-4/-2
Berkun: feverish retreating dodge [3d6.skill(11,+1+2+3-2)] => [4,6,5] = 15 vs (15) or less Success! by 0
Animals: Eagle 2 stoops and slams Berkun's flank [3d6.skill(17,-2)] => [5,1,1] = 7 vs (15) or less Success! by 8 DA-2/-1
GM: -3 to defend, can't Retreat.
Ayake: He's sure-footed, so he can retreat?
GM: He already retreated once, so no.
Berkun: can I make a wrestling parry with left hand?
Ayake: Aha.
GM: Uhm.... no, wrong flank.
Berkun: dodge, then
Berkun: [3d6.skill(11,-3-2)] => [2,3,1] = 6 vs (6) or less Success! by 0
Berkun: ha!
GM: Good for you!

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Ayake
(on deck: [26] Connell)

Berkun: (the -2DX is not to dodge, isn't it?)
GM: No.
** Ayake grabs a shuriken from his bandoleer and flings it at the nearest badger. In midair, the whirling blade splits into four blades which become streaks of blazing flame that will explode on impact. (Fast-Draw (Shuriken), 1 ER for Multi-Strike (RoF4), Burning Strike, and Shattershot 1d.) **
GM: Go for it.
Berkun: Berkun dashes away from the diving bird, at the same time avoiding a sizzling lightning bolt and the other bird, all shooting past him in the same moment. And he just reaches for another arrow...
Ayake: Fast-Draw (Shuriken): [3d6.skill(17,+1+1)] => [5,5,6] = 16 vs (19) or less Success! by 3
Ayake: Multi-Shot: [3d6.skill(17,+1-3)] => [5,5,5] = 15 vs (15) or less Success! by 0

Ayake: Shattershot: [3d6.skill(17,+1-5)] => [2,6,1] = 9 vs (13) or less Success! by 4
Animals: Dodge [3d6.skill(10)] => [5,6,3] = 14 vs (10) or less Failure! by 4
GM: Roll damage for the... 3 shurikens that hit?
GM: Shoot, wait, roll your attack first!
Ayake: Throwing Art: Aiming for Badger 2. [3d6.skill(18,-4-2+1)] => [3,2,1] = 6 vs (13) or less Success! by 7
Ayake: 4 hits.
GM: What's the damage per hit?
Ayake: Yeah, even with the extra -4 in there for cover.
Ayake: [1d6+2] => [3,2] = (5) [1d6+2] => [1,2] = (3) [1d6+2] => [5,2] = (7) [1d6+2] => [4,2] = (6) burning
Ayake: And then frag, which if they're half-submerged for +4 DR will do almost nothing, but look very impressive.
Ayake: The extra DR didn't even occur to me. =/
GM: Right. Fragments on the first one [3d6.skill(17)] => [5,4,5] = 14 vs (17) or less Success! by 3
GM: Two fragments [1d6] => [5] = (5)[1d6] => [5] = (5)
GM: Right. Fragments on the second one [3d6.skill(17,-1-2)] => [4,4,1] = 9 vs (14) or less Success! by 5
GM: Two fragments [1d6] => [3] = (3)[1d6] => [6] = (6)
GM: Right. Fragments on the Ayake [3d6.skill(15,-3-2)] => [1,4,5] = 10 vs (10) or less Success! by 0
GM: One fragment, [1d6] => [4] = (4) damage.
Ayake: DR soaks.
GM: Cuts through your coat but not your skin.
GM: One of the badgers is bleeding from several cuts, the other has a deep gash.

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Connell
(on deck: [24] Mrugnak)

Connell: Does he seem crazy-person ranting, or genuine misunderstanding ranting?
Connell: I attempt to figure this out while setting fire to his hands. [3d6.skill(17,-4)] => [1,2,6] = 9 vs (13) or less Success! by 4
whispering to Connell, This close, he reeks of the taint. He's wearing a gold torc of a Master Druid - even those his robes are of an initiate of the second circle! - but the gold is *tarnished* and *rusty*. His pupils are red.
whispering to Connell, You're not sure if this is a genuine misunderstanding or not, though.
Druid: Parry [3d6.skill(15)] => [1,6,2] = 9 vs (15) or less Success! by 6
GM: He guards his hands with his staff, but gets singed on the edge. [1d6] => [2] = (2)
GM: His armor seems to absorb most of it.

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Mrugnak
(on deck: [24] Slow Enemies)

GM: Connell, you have whispers.
Mrugnak: Yay standing up! Mrugnak moves, trying to head around the Backpack Eating Clouds of Horribleness.

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Slow Enemies
(on deck: [28] Mordreona)

Mrugnak: done.
Animals: Entropic clouds wander [1d6] => [5] = (5) hexes in direction [1d6] => [3] = (3)
Animals: Entropic clouds wander [1d6] => [3] = (3) hexes in direction [1d6] => [5] = (5)
Ayake: ...
Animals: Entropic clouds wander [1d6] => [4] = (4) hexes in direction [1d6] => [3] = (3)
Ayake: Swing your partner round and round, do-si-do, then hit the ground!
Ayake: ((I loved calling out the squaredancing at the seniors center.))
Mrugnak: (( you did what? ))
Mrugnak: (( when? ))
Ayake: ((Was joke.))
Animals: Badger 1 resurfaces and sends more entropic energy at Ayake [3d6.skill(14,4-3-2)] => [3,3,6] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1
Animals: Badger 2 seems away, bleeding, and resurfaces near Berkun.
Animals: Well, nearer to him, anyway.
Animals: The gorilla continues to shimmy down the tree.

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Mordreona
(on deck: [28] Berkun)

Ayake: I don't suppose I can roll out of the way of this cloud?
Ayake: Which probably should roll damage against me?
GM: Oh, right. Uhm. Have you retreated since your last turn?
Ayake: Nope.
GM: Roll away! WIth Light Walk at -4 for posture, of course.
Ayake: Light Walk: [3d6.skill(18,+1-4)] => [2,4,4] = 10 vs (15) or less Success! by 5
Mordreona: Sneak sneak sneak.

2) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Berkun
(on deck: [28] Fast Enemies)

Berkun: 1FP for long stride(or whatever it's called, 2 hex step)
GM: Okay.
Berkun: fast draw barbed [3d6] => [2,6,1] = (9) fast load[3d6] => [3,1,4] = (8)
Berkun: shoot eagle 1 in vitals deceptive -6/3 [3d6.skill(20,3+2+1+1-2-1-2-6)] => [1,6,3] = 10 vs (16) or less Success! by 6
Animals: Eagle 1 dodges! [3d6.skill(10,-3-2)] => [5,6,6] = 17 vs (5) or less Critical Failure! [B556]
Berkun: [1d6+6] => [2,6] = (8) impaling, vitals
Ayake: Falling prone is typically a career ending injury for a flying creature.
Berkun: And Berkun sticks an arrow through it's heart as it passes by...
Ayake: Well. It's not the fall.
Ayake: It's the sudden stop.
GM: Well, they did land on the attempted stoop... but the arrow through the heart takes the fight out of it.

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Fast Enemies
(on deck: [28] Ayake)

Animals: Eagle 2 takes off again, dodging and veering as it climbs over and behind Berkun's head.
Druid: "They were polluting the Fens, but I stopped them! And you released the sickness again!" Rant, rave, cast Shape Air with subtle gestures [3d6.skill(16,-1-2)] => [3,6,3] = 12 vs (13) or less Success! by 1
GM: Connell takes a gust of wind right in the face for [3d6] => [5,6,5] = (16) knockback damage.
GM: You're not vulnerable to that or anything, right?
Ayake: Nope.
Mrugnak: Lightning, not air :D
GM: What happens when he hits a tree?
Mrugnak: collision.
Ayake: Collision damage, which is crushing, so 2 points?
Mrugnak: For however much knockback he should have taken.
GM: Connell takes 2 damage.
Connell: He has 2 DR, so 0?
GM: Well, he takes 6, maximum is 2.
Connell: Now you're just confusing me.
GM: Okay, 6 damage base. His DR applies. He can't take more than 2 after DR, though.
Connell: Ok, so 1 then because of Diffuse?
GM: No, that's with the Diffuse.
GM: So 2. Great!
GM: Also, he's burning a tree but that's a minor detail.

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Ayake
(on deck: [26] Connell)

Ayake: He takes 6 damage. DR absorbs 2, leaving 4 to come in as injury. He can't take more than 2 injury, so he takes 2.
Ayake: Acrobatic Stand: [3d6.skill(15,+1-6)] => [3,4,2] = 9 vs (10) or less Success! by 1
Ayake: ###

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Connell
(on deck: [24] Mrugnak)

Connell: (( Sorry, paging through book. Fly out of the wind gust and back in through the other window.
GM: Okay.
Connell: I actually have enough move to end up on top of him again... do I get another slam? >.>
GM: Yes.
Ayake: You could just end in his hex. He takes aura damage unless he retreats, and I think his back is to a wall. I'm not sure.
GM: No, his back is to his living room.
GM: It's his front that's to a long drop off a short porch.
Ayake: Oh.
Mrugnak: Oooo oooo
Mrugnak: slam him :D
Connell: Slam! [3d6.skill(17,0)] => [4,1,5] = 10 vs (17) or less Success! by 7
Ayake: Too bad Connell's slam can't actually knock things back.
Mrugnak: Perhaps one day he'll botch something up and fall out.
Mrugnak: He could trip.
Ayake: Unless he uses a free action to stop being an eagle in mid-slam? >.>
Druid: Dodge a run-around attack [3d6.skill(9,1-2)] => [4,2,1] = 7 vs (8) or less Success! by 1
Mrugnak: More dice rolls, more chance to trip...
Mrugnak: He'd fall off too then.
Ayake: True.
GM: How much move do you have left, Connell?
Connell: 0
GM: Lucky for you - you almost caught the Shape Air express line.

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Mrugnak
(on deck: [24] Slow Enemies)

Narrator: Connell and the other druid are locked in a strange contest of druidic skills.
Mrugnak: So Mrugnak moves again!
Mrugnak: Dropping my backpack!

7) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Slow Enemies
(on deck: [28] Mordreona)

Mrugnak: (Free action, yay)
Animals: Badger 2 paddles closer to Berkun.
Animals: Entropic clouds wander [1d6] => [6] = (6) hexes in direction [1d6] => [5] = (5)

Animals: Entropic clouds wander [1d6] => [1] = (1) hexes in direction [1d6] => [4] = (4)
Animals: Entropic clouds wander [1d6] => [4] = (4) hexes in direction [1d6] => [6] = (6)
Ayake: I hate Persistent effects. -_-
Ayake: It's not the damage.
Ayake: It's the bookkeeping.
Animals: Badger 1 feeds Ayake another entropic cloud [3d6.skill(14,4-3)] => [6,6,5] = 17 vs (15) or less Critical Failure! [B556]
Ayake: Also, I think I got hit by two of those.
Mrugnak: Mental note- write a macro to do that.
Animals: Oh shit.
Narrator: Steam rises from the water as the Badger places entropic death on top of itself.
GM: Damage is [1d6] => [4] = (4)
Animals: The Gorilla drops to the ground with a thud.
Ayake: It's kind of a pity Mrugnak's going to chop it to pieces.
Ayake: Because I can totally see 'them wrestling' being an epically cool fight.
Narrator: The Gorilla is larger that Mrugnak, with huge arms. It has massive fangs, and its fur has strange blotches in it - the patterns almost form symbols!

1) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Mordreona
(on deck: [28] Berkun)

Mordreona: Committed Long Determined Step and Attack, spending FP for Mighty Blow, cut to the neck [3d6.skill(19,1-4)] => [3,2,4] = 9 vs (16) or less Success! by 7

Mordreona: Damage is [3d6+3] => [5,4,2,3] = (14)
Ayake: Nice trick.
Animals: Gorilla resists a major wound? [3d6.skill(12,3-5)] => [2,3,4] = 9 vs (10) or less Success! by 1

Animals: Dodges [3d6.skill(10,2)] => [6,1,1] = 8 vs (12) or less Success! by 4
Berkun: luck, if I can, to have it reroll
GM: Nope, 8 more minutes.
Berkun: okay, then move
Berkun: ok

3) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Fast Enemies
(on deck: [28] Ayake)

Animals: Eagle 2 flies up, screaming. Everyone make Fear tests at -1.

Ayake: Mental Strength: [3d6.skill(14,-1)] => [1,4,1] = 6 vs (13) or less Success! by 7

Mrugnak: odd.
Mrugnak: Worked last time.
Mrugnak: Fright Check [3d6.skill(12,0+1)] => [2,1,2] = 5 vs (13) or less Success! by 8
Mrugnak: 4 uses of living large left!
Druid: "You stopped the fens from healing! The spirits are wroth with you!" Turn to Connell. Hit him with his staff! [3d6.skill(18,-4)] => [6,4,3] = 13 vs (14) or less Success! by 1 DA-4/-2
Connell: Parrying would be silly... dodge! [3d6.skill(11,-2)] => [1,5,2] = 8 vs (9) or less Success! by 1

4) YOUR TURN NOW:: [28] Ayake
(on deck: [26] Connell)

Ayake: Fast-Draw a throwing spike; advance towards Badger 2 and toss, using Power Blow (1ER), and Multi-Strike (1ER, -4, 5 shots)
Ayake: Fast-Draw (Shuriken): [3d6.skill(17,+1+1)] => [2,3,5] = 10 vs (19) or less Success! by 9

Ayake: Range is 4 for -1, -4 because it's partially submerged, -2 for move and attack?
GM: Yes/
Ayake: Throwing Art: [3d6.skill(18,+1-1-4-2)] => [3,1,3] = 7 vs (12) or less Success! by 5
Ayake: Hits with 5 projectiles. >.>
GM: It's RoF 1?
Ayake: Yup.
Ayake: RoF 5, Rcl 1, rather.
GM: Where does it say that? I'm not seeing a mention of Rcl in the rules...
Ayake: Em, help me out here? I know this came up on the forums recently (for bows), and was judged at Rcl 1, but I don't have a pageref - you did.
GM: Eh, whatever.
Ayake: Damage is [2d6+4] => [2,2,4] = (8) [2d6+4] => [1,3,4] = (8) [2d6+4] => [5,3,4] = (12) [2d6+4] => [3,4,4] = (11) [2d6+4] => [2,3,4] = (9) imp

Berkun (exit): 20:02
Attempting to assign the role of PLAYER to (19) Berkun...

5) YOUR TURN NOW:: [26] Connell
(on deck: [24] Mrugnak)

Berkun: (that was the cable for some reason, maybe it's damaged)
Ayake: Didn't it just do that to Berkun?
** Connell dodges the Druid's staff, and folds in his wings, becoming a faun briefly - a faun who is incanting another spell. (( Stone Bear, wildly gesturing and speaking, half casting time. [3d6.skill(16,+3-5)] => [1,5,2] = 8 vs (14) or less Success! by 6 13 FP spent total, 7 from power item, 6 from self. )) **
Ayake: Less than 10 minutes ago?
Berkun: (can you kick my nick from maptools?)
Mrugnak: (( Sorry just saw the right window. ))
GM: You're not in, Berkun.
GM: There's two badgers, they're both messing with people. I'm recording the times.
** Connell transforms into a stone bear, carved out of dark grey bedrock, with swirling symbols engraved into his surface; the symbols are crudely painted with ochre and white. "GRAAAH!" **
Ayake: No, never mind. 11 minutes between Berkun's roll and mine anyway. Bah.
Connell: That's all I've got.
Druid: "Gar! Defiler!"
Berkun: (this time it seems it's my cable:) )

6) YOUR TURN NOW:: [24] Mrugnak
(on deck: [24] Slow Enemies)

Mrugnak: Status update on the gorilla?
Berkun: (like, the plug behind my computer must be damaged)
Ayake: Mordreona hit it in the neck for a major wound.
GM: Bleeding heavily but still standing. About to turn Mordy into a thief-smear on the nearest tree then maybe hit you with her remains.
